SQL Server Transfer Objects Task limitation
Hi all, Quick question. What is the thinking behind the limitation of not being able to transfer objects between different databases on the same server Why is that limitation there -Jamie We're looking at this for the next CTP. The original reason was just design oversight. There are some objects that are global and don't make much sense to move, in fact are unable to move to the same server because it would be an overwrite, however objects like tables that may be moved should. We're looking at how to make that happen. ...Show All
Microsoft ISV Community Center Forums Odd or even and converting Decimal to binary, octal, or hexadecimal and back.
how do I make an algorithm that asks the user to enter an integer number, then determine whether the number is odd or even. How would you write that in Visual Basic code Secondly I need to figure out how to convert a decimal number into binary, octal, or hexidecimal. It needs to ask the user to enter a decimal number and then ask if it needs to be converted to binary, octal, or hexidecimal. The Algorithm should ask until the option is legal. Then I need to make an agorithm that converts binary, octal, or hexidecimal back to decimal. Once again, if it's an illegal then the algorithm will repeat the question over and o ...Show All

SQL Server How to move Tasks between packages
Hi all, I built two seperate packages, in the same Project Solution, for what I now believe should be one. I'd like to move the tasks from one package to the other, but when I do they no longer work. I have the Solution open and I have a tab for each package. If I go to the one package and copy a task to the clipboard, say for example an Execute SQL task, then I open the other package and paste it, it does paste, but connection gets goofy (changes from 'Financial Analyzer New' to '{6DC14CF0-F7B1-463C-BDB5-D12324901F79}' which does not exist). I have the exact same connection name in both packages. So I cha ...Show All

Visual C# Circular dependency + WinForms depency problem
Hello everyone. I have a question about an indirect circular dependency caused by some not-so-loose coupling, and I'm looking for options to solve it neatly. The operation is very simple - I wish to split my application into a library of core components and a bootstrapping EXE which contains all the WinForms stuff. This is in aid of writing a Linux GUI, and it is why some of the usual options are closed to me due to needing things in certain places. Here is a basic example of the type of dependency I have: -------- Assembly 1 - Core ------------- public class Application { public Car car; public GUI gui; public void Car ...Show All
Visual Studio MSBuild error: Failed to map the path
I’m trying to use MSBuild to build my web solution (asp.net 2.0). I’m using master page for structure consistency across the pages. I put the following codes on the master page: <!--#include virtual="/sites/nav/includes/header.inc"--> ). When I ran MSBuild.exe to build the solution, I got the following error: " Failed to map the path "/sites/nav/includes/header.inc" , this doesn’t make sense since the header.inc file is sitting under IIS virtual directory folder (c:\inetpub\wwwroot\sites\nav\includes\), for some reasons, the compiler just could not find it. Is this a bug in MSBuild or something rela ...Show All
Visual Studio 2008 (Pre-release) LINQ syntax in VB.NET
I've been looking into this LINQ thing, and it's looking good. Thumbs up! I watched the videos on Channel9 with the Great Dane Anders Hejlsberg (ok he lives in the US but I like to think of him as Danish) - godt gaet Anders og co! I really like the syntax in C# where you turn the query around when compared to SQL, so it is like FROM {x} WHERE {y == 1} SELECT {z}. This I understand was done because of IntelliSense, which is great. Now I have learned that the VB.NET implementation is not turned around, it's more like SQL, and I wonder why... Are we gonna lose IntelliSense over this /Klaus Enevoldsen >Now I ...Show All

Not sure what your question is. If you split your table, you may have to update your application to retrieve values from both the tables using a join.
