Visual Basic searching a text box
Hi all, I need to search a textbox for a phrase like "R20" or "R21" or "R44" The phrase could be anywhere within the text and in any order and buried within a string of text eg.(Harmfull to.... R20, flammable liquid....R45), when I have found the phrase I need to copy it over to another text box to build a string like R20, R21, R44. I have tried everything I know as a VB newbie but am completely stuck on this one so any help would be grately appreciated. Thanks in advance. It depends what the general case is of what you're trying to do. If you're looking for a sp ...Show All

Visual C++ LNK2028 when using /clr:oldSyntax in VS2005
It appears that the error relates to using /clr:pure, but I am not. The class it is complaining about is in the unmanaged library, and that library is specified in the link options. It was migrated to and built by VC++ 2005 from the 2003 version. I don't understand the extern "C" part of the error msg because there is nothing in this class that references any C code - it is all C++. There is a C code module in the library, but not related to the class CErrorWindow. This is a Web Service project that compiles and works under VS2003. The instance of CErrorWindow that is referenced in the code is a global instance that is crea ...Show All

I'm having trouble tracking down XAML runtime errors since the debugger just breaks on app.Run and the error message gives me no information about the location or context of the error. Is there something I can do about this The parser is throwing because its not able to convert Foo to a property. This is probably because you havent given enough information to resolve the proeprty. Windows Forms TextFormatFlags.TabStop??
Hi Guys, What is the difference between TextFormatFlags.ExpandTabs and TextFormatFlags.TabStop Or, rather, how do you set tab stops, or use TextFormatFlags and TextRenderer to provide the same tab stop behavior as StringFormat Thanks, Michael Weinhardt TextRenderer.DrawText is a thin wrapper around GDI DrawText API. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp url=/library/en-us/gdi/fontext_0odw.asp They should correspond to DT_TABSTOP and DT_EXPANDTABS... It looks like you would possibly have to bitwise OR in the value for the tabstop to change it to be something other than 8. ...Show All

Smart Device Development ActiveSync 4.1 Green Icon Spins Continuously
At arbitrary times, when I plug-in a Windows Mobile 5.0 device to my desktop, ActiveSync 4.1 fails to work; it simply spins the green icon continuously and says "Connecting." It does not, however, connect--even if I leave it overnight in that state. I've tried many things to diagnose the problem, from disabling my "Windows Firewall" (firewall.cpl), restarting my desktop, restarting the device, etc. None of these things seem to work. I've read a few knowledge base articles about this, but they don't describe my problem exactly. Has anyone else had problems with this I am not running any firewall other than "Windows Firewall" that ...Show All

Visual Basic Using sender as a case in Select Case Statement
When my form loads it adds some handles (using AddHandler ) to a sub ( showStatus ). What this sub does is checks which control activated the sub (using sender.Equals ) and displays text in the status label ( status ) accordingly. For this I use an If...Then statement for each possibility. There are many possibilities and my code get cluttered. Is there a way to do the same thing with a Select...Case statement. I tried: Select Case sender Case tbOne : status.Text = "blahblahblahblahblahblah" End Select where: tbOne is a textbox, status is a StatusLabel It gives me an error though, saying " Operator '=' is ...Show All
