  • Visual Studio Team System Bug or Expected Behavior with Unit Testing

Here's the situation I have (and I don't know if this is because of incorrect usage or or a bug): I have a web service that requires a username and password. The unit test runs a method on the web service to gather data before the test can complete (I know this isn't the best way to do it, but I have no choice here). In order for that to happen I have a security class which must be supplied the username and password. This only has to happen once during the entire testing run. I wanted to make life easier for testing so I created a BaseTestClass and marked it as a test class. Then I had my actual test class inherit from this class. I pl ...Show All

  • Visual Studio Tools for Office Did not work :-(

Well I have a word.dot file with C# behind, Office 2003 I am calling this file from a local web server, and I am receiving this error message: The customization does not have the required permissions to execute. One of the things that makes Linux less attractive are the tons of additional steps you need to do in order to get something working right, and I guess now Windows/Office is no different. I guess it is time to dump this garbage and to develop using something else. My confidence level in Microsoft was 100% until 2003, 70% in 2004, 20% in 2005, -15% now and keep going down. • Smart Device Development two-state icons on Windows Mobile 5.0 start menu (grid view)

Some shortcuts on the start menu of a Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone show a different icon when they're selected. The Messaging icon shows the slip of paper poking out of the envelope, for example. Has anyone managed to recreate this with their own applications, and if so, how Is there a convention for how the icons have to be ordered in the .rc file or is there a naming convention Is there a URL talking about this in MSDN Thanks in advance, Matt and just to add more info, this is how MSDN describes the feature (but notice the tantalising letter 'I' starting an unfinished new sentence at the end. • Visual Studio Team System One big team project, or Eight small ones?

Hi.... I'm just getting my feet wet wtih TFS, and have general questions. We have a small team which work on web applications on eight different internal web sites. Each web site constitutes one project. Everyone involved have the same responsibilities in each of the eight projects. So, while getting things setup (and of course I want to use source control) with TFS, should I make one Team Project, or eight Team Projects If I make it into one team project, can I deploy only one web sites at a time, or do I have to deploy all eight I want to take advantage of the shelving, branching and labeling features. Thanks! Forch ...Show All

  • Visual Basic How to Read, Write, Modify & Remove Application Settings From Config File Using VB 2005?

.NET Framework 1.1 provides System.Configuration Namespace which exposes methods for reading information from the config file, but there are no methods for modifying the contents. Is there anyway this can be done using Visual Basic 2005, without implementing a custom class I have already set it up to use this sort of settings setup and I have used the My.Settings.Save() command after having made a series of changes. I set it up so that there are 18 button name and link settings and 5 user name, password and limits (eg is admin sort of things). I get the user name things to work perfectly, which can be changed by an admin. ...Show All
