SQL Server image resource returned in code
I'm trying to display an image that has been returned from an external assembly, but am having no luck at all. Essentially, I have a utility class that goes to a resource file and pulls out a JPG and returns it. I have set the value property of the image control on the report to hit this assembly, like so : = Code.getLogo() where the function Code.getLogo() actually interfaces with the utility class. I have tried several variations of this code. I have returned the image as an Image object, a JPG, a TIFF and a BMP. I've also been adventurous and tried converting it to a base64 string before it gets to the report and then having the r ...Show All
Visual Basic Connecting to a server
im using the exportXML command in Microsoft Access 2003 to export a .xml file to my website. I have been experiementing with the exportXML command and have been able to export a table to a folder at my website. The problem is that before the table is exported i get a connect to website dialog box where you enter your server user name and password. Once submitted the .xml file is exported successfully. I would like to write some code that hides the connect to website dialog box and fills in the information automatically so users of my database dont see the connection. I have searched and search the net and are struggling to find exam ...Show All
Visual C++ Mixing ml64.exe and Win32 C++: is it possible?
I am currently running WinXP Pro on a dual AMD Opteron system. The development project I'm working on is a high-performance CAD/graphics program. The project is mostly Win32 C/C++, but we also have many specialized performance-critical subroutines hand written in assembler. These assembler files are part of the Visual C++ project and each has a custom build-step that uses ml.exe to compile. We would like to take advantage of the 64-bit registers in our hand-coded assembler routines. The use of the 64-bit registers would only be for mathematical computation, e.g., we don't need the full support of a 64-bit OS with 64-bit memory addressing. So ...Show All

Windows Forms Menu Items query
I'm doing a simple C# program putting a 'check' mark next to a menu item, in VS2003 I would simply use menuItem10.Checked = isBolded ....etc But on VS2005 it won't let me use the same syntax. Do I need to be using ToolStripMenuItem instead of just menuItem, because Intelisence does not seem to recognise menuItem10.Checked Also how do I differentiate between the the menuitem number menuItem10 etc Any ideas would be great! Many thanks, James sorry, for the first lines I surely mean MenuItem menuItemCopy = new MenuItem("Copy"); MenuItem menuItemPaste = new MenuItem("Paste"); ...Show All

Visual Studio Report Viewer fires Page_Load event to wrong web form
I have a problem whereby a VS2005 report viewer object on a web form opened in a new browser via Response.Write("<script>window.open(xxxx)/<script>") fires Page_Load events to the parent page that opened it, not it's own page when it is used (refresh, page forward/back etc). SQL Server Database with empty name
I somehow managed to get a database object with an empty name into one of my instances of SQL Server. I can't delete it or otherwise work with it (I've tried renaming it so I could delete it) without getting an error message because of the empty name. I've tried these things (as well as a "Drop Database" query with no name, which I didn't expect to work and it didn't) from both the SQL 2000 and 2005 environments. Has anyone come across this before I don't suppose this database is hurting anything but I'd still like to get rid of it. The objects in it make it appear to be a copy of the Master database - it also doesn't show up wher ...Show All

Thanks, John Hi John, You can install Express on a computer that excees those limitations, it just won't access the additional memory or processors. Regards, Mike Wachal SQL Express ...Show All
Game Technologies: DirectX, XNA, XACT, etc. Windows Tooltips kill FPS in my Windowed 3D application?
Hi all. For a while now, I've noticed on my machine (and others) that when some WINDOWED 3D applications/games are running on Windows (XP/2000 etc), the framerate can drop from 80+ FPS to 5-10FPS if a standard Windows "tooltip" happens to over-lap the 3D window I hope that made sense! The reason it is an issue is because my application runs in a Maximized (not Fullscreen) window directly ontop of the windows desktop (effectively replacing it). As tooltips are a plenty around the taskbar area, tooltips are prone to poping up (well, fading up and back) all the time. Now for the kicker! I don't think it's just m ...Show All
