• .NET Development What is 'server' in SmtpClient constructor?

  Hi guys! I do know what it is MEANT to be. But here are a couple of querstions, which I can't figure out. I am Testing the new .Net 2.0 SMTP classes. In particular sending mail using SmtpClient class you need to specify the e-mail server in the argument of the constructor. (By the way, you need to have outgoing mail scanning by antivirus software off for any of this to work). What bugs me is that: 1. I can specify "localhost', or my mail server (same as the one secified in my Outlook account) - in either case mail makes it out.So what is the meaning of specifying the server when instantiating SmtpClient class 2. • Windows Forms Forms designer hanging

  I have this one form that hangs visual studio whenever I switch to design mode. I've rebooted etc to no avail.   Hello, I am getting to know about wonderful .NET Web Service features with VB.NET. For some reason, I can't get VB.NET to understand an array of objects defined in WSDL file. If you take a look on following url: http://www.nonplus.net/geek/samples/books.php wsdl you can see that there are ChapterArray, Book and BookArray types defined. If I make a web reference to the url above in my VB.NET, ChapterArray and BookArray won't come available. • Visual Basic Getting data from a database using a primary key

  Hello. I am having trouble with a program. I want to be able to get some data from my database table, given the value of the primary key. This is what I have so far: projectName = DbDataSet.Projects.FindByid(projectId).name where projectName is a String, and DbDataSet is my dataset. The variable projectId is the ID of the row I want to extract the data from, but every time I run my code I get a NullReferenceException. I know that the row with the primary key value of projectId exists because I can see it when I view through server explorer.   I wanted to report that after deleting a field from a temporay Work Item I was working on, the TF Server started throwing errors about every hour.   I'm performing the following test scenario: 1. Manually edit a WSDL file to change the policy settings, namely change the EncryptedParts and the AlgorithmSuite 2. Load this WSDL, get the Binding (via the ServiceEnpoint) and add a new ServiceEndPoint to the host 3. • Visual Basic User Control not updating

  I have a control that I created in VB .net 2003.  It works fine for the most part in 03.  I went to upgrade it today to 2005.  The upgrade seems to have gone fine.  I have attached a test app to the control for testing purposes.  But since moving to VS 2005 when I make a change in the control and build the solution the change is not made in the test app.  I've tried deleting the control and putting it back on, and even shutting down VS and starting back up.  That works 1 out of 10 times.  What could be going wrong Thanks Okay.   A few days ago I've installed the directx9.0b sdk. I looked through the vb tutorials, and the first 4 seemed to work well. But the rest didn't work, the compiler complained alot about the directx library not containing stuff.
