  • Smart Device Development Debugging the applications in VS 2003 - Dies amid deployment

Hi all, I have a windows mobile application which I am creating/debugging/deploying in VS 2003. It has been working great up until midday today, when all of a sudden when I attempt to run the application in VS it just dies in the middle of deployment to the SmartDevice. I can see in the Status Bar in VS that all the necessary files (exe, and .dll's) are being passed across the device, and then the egg timer comes up to show that the application is loading, but then it just dies after 2/3 seconds and then nothing happens. I am not really sure (experienced enough) to know exactly how to tackle this kind of problem. One thing I do know is worki ...Show All

  • SQL Server metadata driven SSIS package--table variable

Is there anyone know if a simple SSIS package (moving data from source table to target table) or task can be called repeatedly using a variable that obtains value once a time from a metadata table containing only table names. Basically, I would like to pass in a table variable to the SSIS package or task to start the ETL for different tables. Thanks a lot! Oliver Patrick, Can you give some rough ideas as what you are using in terms of programming languages, scripts or SSIS tasks to create metadata driven SSIS packages. Many thanks! Oliver ...Show All

  • Software Development for Windows Vista capture a frame

Hello! My program captures avi file from TV-tuner for further processing. I need to get every frame during capturing and to know when the frame start and stops. Thanks a lots. You can use the sample grabber filter. This sits in the graph and calls back to a method in your app for every sample. Or you could write your own in-place transform filter that picked out the start/stop times from the IMediaSample as they pass down the graph. ...Show All

  • .NET Development Suggestion request for winforms app

Hi, I am developing a port scanner application that displays the open/closed ports in any system and outputs them to a richtextbox. My program works fine, but for the following issue:- I use a function that scans the ports. I tried calling this function using a thread pool as well as the thread class. But using the pool returns an exception at Appllication.run(new form1) and the program stops for ports greater than 50 upto 5/10 port it doesn't crash and the UI update of the list also occurs once all port have been scanned which is unusual since I am displaying them at the end of each function. I used the Thread class to ...Show All

  • Visual Studio Express Editions SOS Help needed

Hello to everyone! I'm new at Microsoft technologies and want to start web and windows applications development. The problem is that I don't know were to start from, ie which language to learn. I'm a little confused between C++.NET , VB.NET, C#. Can all these do the same task For instance, can I use c++.net while coding in asp.net I'm tented to start with c#, but my friends tell me to look for the great power of C++.NET while others tell me to start with VB.NET. Really, tell me: can I achieve the same work using either technology chosen from those three ones I'm not attracted by ATL, MFC and consort (Or do you think I should Tell me. Unt ...Show All

  • SQL Server @@CPU_BUSY stops incrementing and generates "Arithmetic overflow occurred"

I am using several globals including @@CPU_BUSY to log the performance of some stored procedures. It works fine on my dev server, but in production the value reported by @@CPU_BUSY on my production server has stopped at 134217727. And when I try to assign its value to a variable, it always generates an error. For example: DECLARE @FOO BigInt Set @foo = @@CPU_BUSY print @Foo generates Arithmetic overflow occurred. 134217727 Note that DECLARE @FOO BigInt Set @foo = 134217727 print @Foo works fine. I understand that when the value of @@CPU_BUSY reaches a certain point, its value becomes ...Show All

  • Software Development for Windows Vista Distribution of Ntrights.exe

I hope I am posting at the right forum. The product I am working on requires Ntrights.exe, which is part of Windows resource kit, to perform some windows configuration. As not every Windows PC has windows resource kit installed, we plan to include Ntrights.exe in the release package of my product. What I want to ask is will it cause any legal or copyright issue if we distribute this Microsoft tool in our product release. Any comments or suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks. Heck windows!!!
