  • Visual Studio Team System file's and folder's Attribute

Is there any way - mechanism - to associate files and folders with an attribute ( or property ) , for later on make queries and see those which have common property (attribute) etc... and I mean not just a label There's no way to attach arbitrary meta data to files in folders in version control.  You could use the linking API to create links to particular files, just as you can link work items to source control files.  You c ...Show All

  • Visual C# IDE linkage to controls across partial classes

I have a C# VS05 GUI app which has multiple tabs, with multiple controls on each tab. The code was all contained in a single file: frmACC.cs When clicking on a control in the IDE the editor cursor would go to the method associtated with that control (as one would expect) i.e. Button1_Click. As the file grew large I broke it into partial classes, each associated with a particular tab in the application to make naviagtion and development ...Show All

  • Visual Basic Why does dispose() not make second instantiation of an object go away?

I'm writing a program in VB 2005 Express Beta 2.  The code pasted at the end of this note is a simplified example of a problem I am having in a more complex piece of code.  The simple code does the following: I have a startup form (called Form1) with two buttons on it.  Button1 triggers a loop ranging from 0 to 9 to create 10 new instances of a picturebox (all in a 10-element picturebox array called picbox) by setting al ...Show All

  • Visual Basic "Could not find a part of the path" error message when you access a mapped drive

Hi I'm getting error when I try to access to a mapped drive. I'm using vb.net 2003 and developing a windows service. The service needs to read a file on a mapped drive using the streamreader class. When I run the service on windows XP pro all works perfect, but now when I run the same service on the Windows 2003 server it doesn’t work. The mapped drive exists and I grant access to everyone. I’ve found an article that says the pro ...Show All

Hi, Want to know if there are any decent Visual Basic 2005 source code sites available yet. I have found that no matter how may tutorials you read and how many books you get none of them cover what you want to to cover. • Visual Basic VS.net 2005 slow WebSite build times with Visual Basic

I've recently upgraded to vs.net 2005 and after building a few websites, I've started to notice the lag times when building a solution. In the past, a solution would take at most, 10 seconds to build. Now I'm experiencing 10+ mins to build a project. Has anyone else had problems with this I've read others with this particular problem and they have done various things like delete the registry settings, and other such extreme methods. ...Show All

  • Visual Studio Express Editions Starter Kits are a nice idea - but in reality they are a huge waste of time

I am the CTO of a large Microsoft-centric tech consulting service. I have spent considerable time over the past month studying and trying out this new starter kit technology. While I must say these starter kits are a great idea, the reality is that they are so poorly supported as to make them worse than useless - they are a waste of time and energy. My take is that they can't be easily installed correctly, as I have attempted installs of eac ...Show All
