Windows Forms Start Windows Service After Install
Im setting up a deployment for my first windows service and I have a few questions. 1. How would I go about starting a windows service as soon as it is finished being installed Or, could I force a reboot after the installation, since the service is set to auto start after being rebooted 2. My program also requires that the 'Allow service to Interact with desktop' option is checked for the service's properties. Is their a way to do this as part of the deployment and installation instead of having to do it manually Thanks O ...Show All
Game Technologies: DirectX, XNA, XACT, etc. Players move faster at higher framerates
Okay, this is really bad. Clearly, a hard-coded "2" that's applied to my character's "Left" property on every frame render isn't going to cut it. Obviously, the game will run slow on crappy hardware, and there's not much I can do to prevent that. But the game shouldn't run faster on really good hardware! How can I cap the movement speed, or better yet, guarentee a certain speed within reason I can already calculate frames per second, and how much time has elapsed between each render, so I'm sure it's just some simple multiplication thing I have to do from there... but math was never my strong point! How do I do this PS, it would ...Show All
Visual Studio 2008 (Pre-release) Problem with TextBox ControlTemplate
Hi, Is there a way to set the ControlTemplate of a TextBox and not putting a TextBox in it It looks like I will loose the functionallity of it when there's only a TextBlock in it. So, I have Rectangles, etc in the ControlTemplate. I have also a few Triggers in it. No the problem: I've defined a Trigger for "IsEnabled" Value="False" (Disabled) and I have this TextBox in the ControlTemplate of the Trigger: < TextBox x:Name = " Text " Padding = " 10,3,10,3 " BorderThickness = " 0,0,0,0 " Background = " #FFFFFFFF " Foreground = " #FF000000 " ...Show All
Visual C++ Side by side problem
I recently upgraded from B1 to B2, and my console projects that link against msvcp80d.dll and msvcr80d.dll won't run. On the cmdline, I get: "The system cannot execute the specified program." In the IDE I get a dialog saying: "Unable to start program foo.exe. The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Review the manifest file for possible errors. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. For more details, please see the application event log." (This by the way is a wordy dialog that isn't really informative.) I get three SideBySide events in the event viewer (Syst ...Show All
Visual Basic RichTextBox Control - Lack of Span() method
In previous versions of Visual Basic, such as version 6.0, I have been able to use the RichTextBox control's Span() method to select data. However in Visual Basic .NET 2005 I have not figured out how to do so. Is there a new method equivalent to the Span() method in previous versions of the control, and if so what is it Ok, here you go, you're very own span function.... Note, there's probably a better faster one out there (There always is), but the 3 minutes of testing seems to be OK. Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click( ByVal sender As System. Game Technologies: DirectX, XNA, XACT, etc. Sprite.Draw2D not working as intended?
I have made a InterfaceImage image for a GUI, using the D3DX Sprite class. But I got some strange behaviors that doesn't seems to be explained in the MSDN. TheImage.Draw2D(TheTexture, Rectangle.Empty, new Rectangle(Left, Top, Width, Height), new Point((int)(Left / ((float)Width / (float)TextureX)), (int)(Top / ((float)Height / (float)TextureY))), Color.Transparent); TheTexture: a Texture object TheImage: a Sprite object Top, Left, Width, Height: screen coordinate of the sprite. Smart Device Development Time bug in Smartphone emulator?
I notice that the current time on the emulator is not working correctly. The seconds increment, but the minutes do not. For instance it goes from 1:42:59PM to 1:42:00PM again, instead of 1:43:00PM. Why is this happening Can you describe a little more about how you are observing this (the clock on the start page, some time API or something else) The emulator gets the time directly from your desktop machine, so if you desktop time is incremented correctly - the emulator real time clock should function correctly. Thanks, Vladimir ...Show All
Visual C++ VC++/MFC 8 not stable
Hey, I am affriad to say MFC 8 that comes with VS 2005 isnt stable at all. im working in a studio trying to work on a project, and i keep on wasting time on worthless issues. All of which have to do with pointers and the new operator. Latest issue is it will declare thepointer if i told it to load configuration from a file. but it wont declare it if i decide to load the configuration manually, i really dont know what difference does it make. im using the exact same code for declaring a pointer, and it refuses and gives me the following message: http://img85.imageshack.us/my.php image=error7qz.jpg followed by Out Of Memory, also i dont know w ...Show All
