  • SQL Server SSIS - Custom properties for Derived and other transformations

Hi, I saw some thing called custom properties for the "Derived transformation" in the msdn site. I tried to use them in a simple package, but I am getting an error as "can't write to derivedoutputcolumnname.friendlyexpression". Friendly expression is one of the custom properties available for the derived transformation output columns. The steps I followed to get to this error are as follows: 1) Get data from a table using OLEDB Source. Suppose I am getting firstName, LastName etc. 2) Derived column input is values from the above OLEDB Source. 3) I have added a new column called "Concatenated name" ...Show All

  • Visual Basic Using C++ routines in a VB.net project

I am converting a VB6 project that relies on a few simple .DLL commands to get around VB's inability to work with unsigned integers. VBnet seems to have the same constraint. Considering the whole .net framework, is there a way that I can rewrite these routines as a VC++ .net library and then link them to my VBnet program  It would be nice to get rid of the .DLL dependency. JDeas Although Visual Basic 2002/2003 does not have keywords (2005 adds keywords) for unsigned integers, it still does support consuming and declaring them using the System.UInt16, System.UInt32, System.UInt64 and System.UIntPtr types. ...Show All

  • .NET Development can not create an SQLConnection object

I am getting an initialization exception when I instantiate SQLConnection. The exception occurs emediately upon creating an instance and does not depend on whether I supply a connection string for the constructor. The odd thing is that I am not getting this error on my development computer, only when I install it on a different computer. The computer giving the exception has .Net 2.0 installed from the redistributable which I downloaded from MS on Thursday. This is happening before I set any properties or do anything else with the new connection. Any ideas Jake Wagner no, I am doing the in ...Show All

  • Software Development for Windows Vista Change user picture?

I am interested in changing user's picture (which appears on the welcome screen) programatically. On Windows XP, this was quite simple - you went to e.g. "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\" and the bmp files for all users were there. On Vista, the above procedure doesn't work. I noticed, that the user's picture can be found in "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp", however this is only some temporary storage - the file is written but not read, so if I change it, the user picture is still the same. Does please anybody know where is the user's picture ACTUAL ...Show All

  • Visual Studio Team System How to get TestName in Performance Report?

Hi all! I have a task - check and run all the automated tests for specified function. For example: 1. I have unit tests - "Test1" coverages functions "F1", "F3" "Test2" coverages functions "F1", "F2" "Test3" coverages functions "F1", "F3" ... 2. I select all tests ("Test1", "Test2", "Test3") and run them. After that I have 3 resulting records, for each test. If I click right button on Result - I can "Create Performance Session" for this test. Question 1. How can I create performance session for ALL Results (I.e. I want to select all the Results and create perf. report for all tests. Now I can't do it). 3. I need this com ...Show All

  • Visual Studio Express Editions Upgrading vb6 projects

I was unable to upgrade projects from vb6. I get an error when "invoking upgrade engine". Error occurs in vbu.exe. Error message: Enexpected exception ocurred during upgrade engine operation: Error in remote procedure call. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BE). Using: XP Pro Spanish Version VB 2005 Express V8.0.50727.42 VB6 projects made with VB6 Enterprise Edition (SP6) Spanish Version. Hi Cristian, It sounds to me like the VB Upgrade tool did not get installed correctly. I would suggest going to Add/Remove Programs in the control pannel and doing a repair on VB Express. ...Show All

  • .NET Development SQL Server test code returning an error.

Hi, I am trying some example code in Visual Studio 2005 (C#) to create a SQL Server 2005 Express Edition database, but the code is falling over in the try/catch statements of the following code: private voidMySqlTest() { String str; SqlConnection myConn = new SqlConnection("Server=localhost;Integrated security=SSPI;database=master"); str = "CREATE DATABASE MyDatabase ON PRIMARY " + "(NAME = MyDatabase_Data, "+ "FILENAME = 'C:\\MyDatabaseData.mdf', " + "SIZE = 2MB, MAXSIZE = 10MB, FILEGROWTH = 10%) " + "LOG ON (NAME = MyDatabase_Log, " "FILENAME = 'C:\\MyDataba ...Show All

  • Visual Studio Tools for Office storing a variable(caching)

i need to store one value in a counter variable in vsto excel appln which cannot be stored in database.when i close the appln and open it again it should hold the value(persist) how can i implement this in excel application Hello, I can think of several things that might be preventing the changes to your variable from being saved: - Are you rebuilding your project every time you run it If you do this, the existing workbook (the one with the changed variable) gets overwritten, so you basically start over from the initial state again. - Are you saving the workbook before closing it The change to ...Show All

  • Windows Forms Click once and trust license

hi, In beta  you could programatically install trust licences (there was a .net function and even a sample called trustlicensedeployment.). In beta2 these functions seem to have been removed and the sample also. Can anyone tell me why and what is now the best way to deploy such a trusted license to all workstations Also is there a list of changes between beta1 and beta 2 thanks, Bruno Hi, TrustLicense Deployment feature is cut in Beta2 and going forward. While there are some advantages with trust license, like it allows delegation, there are other cons like complex model, poor tool support, no revoca ...Show All

  • Windows Search Technologies no search results

I had been using WDS with no problem, but since replacing my hard drive (I did a full backup then restored the whole lot to a new drive) I have not been able to get ANY search results from it.  The only other problem I had after the restore was with Office 2003, but after copying in the MSI files from the old drive this has been fine and I have had no other problems. I have re-indexed several times, moved the location of the index, removed and resinstalled WDS (twice, including once where I removed registry keys, and I have deleted any leftover folders), installed the enterprise WDS, and gone back to normal WDS - all to no avail. It hap ...Show All

  • Visual C++ Release object code seems now incompatible with debug object code

Prior to Visual Studio 2005, it was possible to link together C and C++ .obj files which were a mix of release (compiled using /MT) and debug (compiled using /MTd) builds. I'm finding with Visual Studio 2005, that the size and layout of C++ class objects which have STL container data members now varies between the debug and release builds, such that this linking of mixed build objects no longer works. Is there a way I can compile my release code so it will link with debug objects, or am I now forced to have debug and release builds of each module This, of course, is because the /MTd switch defines ...Show All

  • SQL Server Problem with concurrent insert and update commands

I've got a quite simple data task. It extracts data from source, performs a few lookups and finally redirects the rows based on whether they should be inserted to or updated (if they already exists but has been changed) in the destination database (which is hosted by sql server 2005 sep CTP). I use a conditional split transform, which splits the rows in two separate outputs: - the first goes to an ole db destination which simply inserts the rows into a database - the second one goes to an ole db command which updates the same database Everything is doing well as long as there are just rows of one type, I mean only rows that s ...Show All
