Software Development for Windows Vista Smart tags lost functionality in Beta2
I'm not sure if WWF has a spot on the MSDN Feedback site or not, so I'm not sure where to report bugs. In Beta 1.2 when you dropped a code shape on the designer the smarttag would light up on the code shape indicating that you needed to set the code handler. In that Beta when you selected the smarttag and clicked on the message it would open the property window and place focus on the property that needed to be set. In Beta 2 I notice that clicking on the smart tag message seems to have no affect at all. Also, the little red icon that previously was shown in the property window to indicate which properties have issues is not displaying ...Show All
Visual Studio Need to move VSS database with WEB project.
Hi We use VSS version 6.0c, on the windows 2000 with IIS5, I have a couple of VSS databases. Now I want to migrate databases to another server. In my case this is the file storage without IIS. The regular project I move to the new server without problem, but I don't know how to migrate the VSS database with WEB projects. I don't understand exactly how FrontPage extensions work and what I must change in order to move VSS data to another server and use the existing IIS server. In my case: The physical place of VSS database is d:\inetpub\vss The web site instance is 172.25.10.1 - it's pointing to web site which home directory ...Show All

Visual Studio Express Editions Memory Error
I'm running the newest Beta 2 version for VB and when I run a project in debug and exit it I get this error: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. Not sure what other info might be needed. I tried closing Visual Studio, I tried rebooting my machine, turning it on and off and can't seem to get rid of the error. Any idea what could be causing it A google search led me back to this site, and one of the answers given to this question before was : I too have been experiencing this issue. Visual Studio Team System Data driving unit tests but not from database
I love that the unit test framework lets you data drive your tests using the Data Source value in the TestMethod attribute. However, I don't love the idea of driving it from a database table. Creating a db table and populating it for each of my data driven test methods is a pain. This is overkill for the job. What I really want to do is just create a CSV file that I can use as the data source. I can then put the csv right in the project beside the test file and edit it. An XML file would even be better than a db table. Is there any way of specifying a file based data source like a CSV or XML rather than a database Or, is there a way to spec ...Show All
Visual Basic Problems Adding Fields to DVDs Table in MovieCollection Template
I'm trying to learn VB 2005 by modifying the MovieCollection project template. I added two fields to the DVDs table, Media and Location. I added the fields to the DVDCollectionDataSet. I bound each field to a new control on the ListDetails form. The build went fine and all looks well when I run the program. However, if I shut down and restart the program, I do not see the data for the two added fields. The other controls display data properly. Any idea what is wrong Has anyone been able to get this to work I can't believe I stumped the experts! Following the ...Show All

I am trying to install SQL Server 2005 Standard Version on my IBM Thinkpad running Windows XP (SP2). .NET Development Passing NTLM credentials from a web application to a web service.
I have a web application that has impersonation set to TRUE, and anonymous access disabled. The only authentication I am allowing is NTLM integrated auth. I am making a web service call to another server in the same forest. I have set the web service call's Credentials to the DefaultCredentials in the CredentialCache, yet it returns a 401 Unauthorized when I attempt to make the call. I checked the logs and it does not appear that the username is being sent to the web service. If I turn impersonation off, it uses the domain\machine$ user to access the web service, but only after attempting an anonymous connection first. I would like to use Ke ...Show All
Visual Studio Team System All my unit tests pass, no matter what!
For some reason, all my unit tests pass on one machine. I've created projects at home, including tests. But no matter what I do, all tests just pass. I rebooted, I created new projects, I did Assert.Equals(0, 1) but they just keep passing. I'm running WinXP SP2, VS2005 Beta 2 Team Suite, C# Normal thing I do is create class library, create test project, set a reference to my class library. Either give them the same namespace or specifiy a using. Then I add a new Test, it's name "UnitTest1.cs" when I change nothing. I can use MyClass myClass = new MyClass(); and everything. I can debug, everything. But no matter WHAT I assert, everything pass ...Show All
Visual Studio Capturing ReportViewer Rendering Output
I am trying to come up with a work-around for the localreport class not allowing to export reports in HTML format. I have pretty strict requirements which is mostly why I am trying to put together such an convoluted work-around. I am not allowed to list IIS as a requirement (Cassini is fine though). That rules out using Reporting Services for SQL Server which is what I was originally going to use. Anyway, my idea is to create a template ASP.NET application that includes a reportviewer control. I want to be able to launch that ASP.NET page in a minimized IE. I then want as part of the ASP.NET page to take in the ...Show All
