• Visual C++ How do you create a single .exe installer file?

  I'm a psychology grad student at Miami U. in Ohio, and I need to come up with a way to create an installer for a program that is a single .exe file. I have been using Installshield for Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 6 to create an install disk with all the files needed for install on it. However, I need it to be just one file, so that when someone downloads it and opens it, it will begin the install and extract all the needed program files from just that one executable. Is that possible I need this to distribute a program to other reasearchers who are not that computer savy. That is why I need it to be as simple as possible. Any help you guys ...Show All

• Visual Studio can't install VS2005 - "not a valid win32 application"

  I'm trying to install visual studio on desktop with an AMD64 processor (but using 32-bit XP Pro), and when I try to install Visual Studio 2005, I get a "not a valid win32 application" in a dialog box. I get the error "D:\ is not a valid win32 application" when I try to use autoplay, and "D:\setup.exe is not a valid win32 application" when I try to run setup directly from the disc. • Visual Studio Express Editions vb2005 exp ed will not connect to sql 2005 exp ed

  I uninstalled the Beta2 version per the install instructions with the release edition.  I have been taking the online learning up to lesson 08 in which we start doing something with sql2005.  I cannot make a database in visual studio 2005 because it will not connect to the current instance of sql 2005.  Starting sql2005 indicates that the default instance is running as a service on my computer.  in lessons 1 through 7, everything worked as advertised so I'm pretty sure the visual studio part is working.  Do I need to reinstall Sql   Rename the instance   Thanks for any help you can give.   ...Show All

• Visual Studio Express Editions New Project dialog box

  I need to find out how to get the "New Project" dialog box back. I think I checked the "Don't show this again box, and the info I have found refers to choices that don't appear under the options tab on either of the two computers I am using. Perhaps you could try eleting the CurrentSettings File that resides in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Settings\VB Express Remember to make a backup copy of this file elsewhere in case it mucks things up.  Express will likely create a new settings file and reset the application to it's install state ...Show All

• Visual Studio Express Editions Free Learning Videos on Express Web Site

  I've been trying to view and download the free learning videos for Visual Web Developer Express and Visual C# Express. Of a total of 30 videos, I've been able to view and download 26, but 4 cannot be viewed in their entirety nor downloaded to completion. They are Visual Web Developer #2 and #4 (for C#) and C# Express #12 and #14. I usually get a "server was reset" error message, but have also gotten a worm alert message on the first file (VWB #2).   Hello, Using vs 2003, vb.net as a windows application....how would I go about scraping information from a specific window when there could be multiple windows open from various apps.   Hello, We recently ported a huge MFC app of ours from VS6 tot VS.Net 2003. Which, aside from a few hickups, went quite fine! In Debug build, everyting builds without any errors/warnings.   Hi: I have installed SQL 2005 Developer Edition and VS 2005. Do I need to also install SQL 2005 Express edition too My version of VS2005 is proffesional. I cannot seem to find SQL 2005 Developer Edition in the Server Explorer of VS2005. So I am wondering if I need to install SQL 2005 Express.
