Problem installing dxsdk(april 06)

Hi, Ive got a problem installing the directx sdk (april 06). I go through setup untill right at the end when it says Starting Services. Then it comes up with an error message saying

Error 1290.Service DirectX Debug Service (DXDebug) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privleges to start system services.

Any suggestions

    I've got a worse problem with installing this thing. When I download it it has a "generic file" icon in Explorer, and when I click it I get "Not a valid Win32 application". I've tried the download several times. I thought maybe it's a straight zip archive - nope, it isn't.

    I must ask the obvious question first: Are you running the installation with Administrator privs

    Here's another big problem with the April 06 SDK installer.

    My install seemed to work OK, but actually toasted my msdev 2005 keyboard.

    I can't copy or paste, etc. No control keys work.

    The "Tools->Options/Environment/Keyboard" command shows all blanks. No mapping schemes. The reset button does nothing.

    The reset keyboard command in "Tools->Import and Export Settings..." does not fix it. I get "Your settings were reset, but there were some errors. Error 1: An error occurred while importing settings for 'Keyboard'."

    I am about to re-run the msdev 2005 install to see if that will help. O joy.

    But wait... google to the rescue. See the following site for fixes. I used the "devenv /resetuserdata" fix.

    Yes the account im using has administrator privilages

    I have a different problem. The installer says "This version of the Microsoft Direct X SDK is not supported on this operating system". I am running XP HOME SP2. Is there anyway to fix this so I can get it installed
