XBox - Managed Code

I’m just wondering if anyone knows if Xbox 360 supports any type of managed code (mc++, c#). We're about to develop an engine and we can’t find any information about this. We wanted to use c# for the scripting of the game so if anyone knows it would really help out. Thanks.

Publicly available information is very sparse, if at all existant, for XBox360. I was reading online that even "regular" Microsoft employees outside of the related departments weren't allowed access to a lot of information Smile

Anyone that does have an answer to your question probably can't answer it due to the various NDA's that they'll of signed.

Your best bet is probably to try and get hold of the developer relations people and file for a licence/whatever to develop for the platform. Once you're an approved developer I'm sure you'll have access to all the information you could ever want...

The only public information is linked from there

Otherwise as Jack said, you can only get SDK information as a licensed XBOX360 developer. Right now you better have very deep pockets, a sure fire hit and probably a big name publisher.

For those who find this thread through search http://www.microsoft.com/xna/ and search more on 'XNA framework'. .Net and MDX coming to the Xbox 360 at some point in the future. Not too many details right now but watch this space.

Just e few weeks ago I've read somewhere on microsoft.com about questions to man working for microsoft with question "Is there (on XBox 360) any chance to make in manage-code", the answer was that They don't assume any manage code for the next XBox. So I thing this is becouse C/C++ is faster then C#, and MC++, thats why is this what is it.

There's a ton of wishful thinking with managed code for the Xbox 360, but a close examination of their Xbox360Preparation file says the following, "The Xbox 360 development kit (XDK) supports development using either C or C++." I suppose it was too much money & time to implement the .NET framework which would be barely used in the busy industry. Developers are often given the beta tools, in a rushed schedule, etc. so it's hard to find time to switch to a new & unstandard language for what they do. There just isn't a big need outside of software developers and home ethusiests.
