I had this same problem with both Build & MC2. I had the files saved to the root of my D: drive (second partion on primary HD). Remembering how obnoxiously overprotective of the root dirs. the SP2 security is (Why do things have to be such a hassle for those of us who know our way around a computer, just because the rubes aren't smart enough not to do something stupid to their computers ), I created a new folder and moved the files there. No longer in the root, the files ran with no problems.

First of all, thanks to everybody who has chimed in with details of thier install problems. And secondly, we apologize for the issues you're having. We are taking some steps to try to address this with new installers but it will be a few days before those are ready since the bulk of the team is at GDC this week.

In the meantime, if people encounter this issue here is a recap of the suggestions that most people have had success with:

    1) Save the file locally. Make sure the total file size matches the file size specified on the download page.

    2) Try running the EXE first. Keep in mind that it will need permission to create a subfolder in the directory you run it from. So for example, running it from a network share may pose permissions issues, and running it from a burned CD would also pose problems.

    3) If step 2 works, the MSI installer should launch automatically and the setup program will begin. But if it doesn't, you might get an error about it being unable to create the directory. Download a program like WinZip or WinRar and open the EXE file using one of those programs, then manually extract the files to a directory and run the .MSI.

I hope this helps some people - in the meantime, we'll keep working on those new installers.

    Thanks for your patience.

Thanks, Gabriel. May I ask where you saved the file to locally We've been unable to repro this problem on any of the dozens of machines we've tested so any additional details you could provide would be great. Also, how much disk space do you (or did you) have left when you downloaded

Ecrofirt, thank you for letting us know. I am not sure why you're seeing that error. Did you try to open immediately from the Web or did you save locally first And do you know why your machine isn't letting it create a new directory (e.g. you're running it from a network share or where you don't have sufficient priveleges to create a folder or from a burned CD)
