in the SDK documentation details the various components. There are currently only 3 active components - Direct3D, DirectInput and DirectSound.

- Deprecated and now moved to the platform SDK (it's no longer part of DirectX).

- Deprecated and long since stale - you're not supposed to use it anymore..
