It all depends on what language and technology you would like to use. If you go along the managed directx path I would have a look at www.thezbuffer.com as the zman has a good collection of resources and tutorials to get you started.
You could also have a look at the game programming forums on www.gamedev.net.

If you're willing to put in the effort (and use C++) have a look at the Game Institute - a little pricey but the course content is second to none.
