XNA needs visual studio 2005?

I am working with Dark Basic Professional and want to check out XNA. I have visual studio.net I can't find if XNA will work with VS.NET or if I will be forced to upgrade to VS 2005.  Knowing Microsoft they will use XNA to drive sales of every new version of visual studio that gets released. So will XNA work with visual studio.net Sorry if I sound bitter about all the new version of visual C. I don't have a lot of money and I keep hitting roadblocks.

I am watching the intro video now. I was a bit confused as to what XNA did. I see its more of a flow control solution rather than a way to program a level for example. I will have a better understanding as I do more research. Thank you for the quick response.

    i have another question.
And what is the difference between XNA Build and XNA Studio

  • perryf

Are you speaking of XNA Build or the framework XNA Build will install the Visual Studio IDE so you don't need to purchase any Visual Studio product for it to work. We don't have any plans of what the framework will be tied to at this point. If you were just using C#, you can compile without any IDE. Again our product support plan has not been decided but have you checked out the Visual Studio Express products You can get them for free! http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/

    Thanks!
