Are you still writing your Avalon book Or would you consider another MDX DirectX one :)

Tom was too busy to produce the 3rd book, so its being written by some other folks in the DX team. However his name appears to be stuck with it.

(well the ISBN's match anyway, though title appears to have changed since Jan http://blogs.msdn.com/rickhos/archive/2005/01/13/352486.aspx)

Sorry if I missunderstood, but did you mean that Tom Miller is not writing a book I just found this on Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0672326957/qid=1124980501/sr=1-16/ref=sr_1_16/002-7503541-4028868 v=glance&s=books

looks like it is out in 6 months or so. Looks good to, with a bit more advanced topics then the first two books had, like HDR and so on..:)

Well, the "Weller" half has been at Microsoft for over 3 years now, so I'm not sure how I've "toddled off" :-)

To be more specific though, I doubt Tom and I will jointly collaborate on a book, because I hate Tom thoroughly...... just kidding :-)  Honestly, Tom's knowledge about Managed DirectX is 1000 times greater than mine, so there's not much I could contribute to such a book.  The biggest challenge, for both of us, is time.  While we appreciate the complimentary comment, I doubt a collaborative book is in the future.  We have a hard enough time meeting face to face on a monthly basis, and he's just one floor above me :-)

At the moment, neither Tom nor I are engaged in writing a book.  I had once considered writing a gaming book for Avalon, but my current work has me too busy.  All of my "technical time" now is focused on DirectX and Managed DirectX.  I haven't looked at Avalon since I joined the DirectX team.

I guess the book is going to be great anyway. The two first books where to much for beginners. Finaly some more advanced stuff is turning up. I am starting to get tired of porting code from C++ and the unmanaged API..:)
