issues installing DXSDK_Dec2005.EXE

Hi,
I downloaded the SDK (december 2005) and I cannot install it. A window comes up saying:

"Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or corrupted Cabinet file."

Well, my machine has 2Gb of ram and my swap is the same size so I think the file is corrupted.
Can anyone send me a link to a zip file that has the SDK extracted or a link to an EXE that has been tested to work

I have downloaded the same file many times and have run into the same problem.

thanks

    Hi t7200,

I'm facing just the same problem with the April2006 SDK, but only difference is, all the above suggestions in this post that worked for you did not help. Cleared all my caches and tried extracting with WinRaR, but nothing worked. Has anyone tried to install this version of the DirectX SDK ( April 2006 ) and faced such problems in that case, please post your suggestions, or workarounds.

Also, i saw in some post where somebody said the same SDK he was using, installed perfectly on one machine while failed on the other, whereas both m/c config specs were identical Is this really a machine problem, or something to do with the SDK

Someone please help. Thanks in advance.

Have you checked disk space on your machine, the program will extract the file to a temp directory then install from there. Another option that I use is to extract the downloaded file with something like winRAR and cut the files to a CD... Then install from there.

I just tried to extract "dxsdk.exe" from WinRAR in the archive "dxsdk_dec2005" it stops at 10% and says that the archive is corrupt.

    So....... any suggestions
Could you send me a link with this extracted "dxsdk.exe"
    Anyone

    thanks

Sending extracted versions of the SDK is a violation of the EULA. Please clear out your IE cache and download the SDK again from http://msdn.com/directx/sdk (if you are downloading via IE). There is no reason you should have a corrupted download.
Also make sure you are running the installer with Administrator permissions.

I just tried that, and I'm still getting the same error. I've tried alot of things including what I stated before and extracting the file manually different ways. This is getting annoying to say the least. I do appreciate the feedback t7200. Any more suggestions from anyone will be tremendously appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried the December and the February releases. I've cleaned my %temp% folder, other files and folders, defragmented, disabled anti-virus, etc. I just can't seem to get this working. I saw a post where someone is having the same problem with a .NET sdk as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I did what was suggested and cleared out my cache and downloaded files. When I redownloaded the file again it worked fine. Let me know how it turns out.
