I recently relocated to a rural area where satellite is the only "broadband" available. Satellite providers restrict bandwidth, and I now find myself in the nightmarish situation of being unable to download the DirectX SDK because the file size is simply too large!
So this post is on the form of a plea: please make the SDK available in smaller chunks (less than 200 MB would be good) so those of us deprived of unlimited Internet access won't also be deprived of the latest SDK releases!
I'd be interested in hearing from others with similar bandwidth problems - perhaps if there are enough of us, the DirectX group will make the SDK available to us by breaking it down into smaller files, similar to the way the platform SDK is available in multi-file downloads.
A rallying cry: DirectX for EVERYONE, no matter how bandwidth challenged!

DX SDK size and satellite ISPs - It's too big!

If you get a MSDN subscription you will (eventually - usually a month or so behind) get the SDK on one of the DVDs.
I know this has been a request several times before but its never happened so I wouldn't hold your breath. Plus with DX9 and 10 in the same SDK things are only going to get bigger for a while. Emailing directx@microsoft.com is probably the official way to request this. Otherwise your best bet is to make friends with someone with broadband and a CD burner.

Thanks for the link - I sent an email.
They used to make the CD available for ten bucks, but I can understand why that was discontinued. It seems to me that making the download available in multiple files wouldn't be any problem as far as cost and resources goes, though.
