Yes Glenn's blog is now at http://www.virtualrealm.com.au/ I will edit that old link out of the posts. You are correct that after it expired it was taken over by someone else.
If you need eBooks then you can find both of Tom Miller's book on O'Reilly's Safari website http://safari.oreilly.com - you get a month free then its reasonably proced per month after that.
I cannot provide you with an e-book since thats not legal but however I can recommend you some Books on Managed DirectX
1. Managed DirectX 9 Kick Start : Graphics and Game Programming by Tom Miller 2. Beginning .NET Game Programming in C# by David Weller et al 3. C# and Game Programming: A Beginner's Guide by Salvatore A. Buono
On the above sites we have lots of resources listed for Managed DirectX, including Tutorials, Links to Commercial Projects usind MDX, and tools that will help with your DirectX Travels.

From what I can tell, that www.ircomm.net link has been taken over by some seedy company or individual and now throws up wave after wave of pop-ups. It also has links that bear no resemblance to the subject and sends you to places that are not related.
I despise people and companies that do this sort of thing. Almost as much as I despise web page coders who screw up your Back browse button to keep you locked on the web page you landed on. May they all rot in hell :)
Best to avoid www.ircomm.net like thr proverbial plague in my opinion.

There are also several ebooks on directx available on http://safari.oreilly.com
There are no free ebooks that are legally availalbe for download that I know of. Please don't use the MSDN forums for trying to find these.
