The Xbox 360 is not designed to be a stand-alone computer running an operating system.  In spite of the wishful thinking of many people Smile

Interesting - it gives the impression that XBox development may be opened up sometime in the future.

I'm really not sure what you mean here. Do you think the original Xbox is not a stand-alone computer running an operating system

It wasn't designed to be one. The OS is stripped down and it doesn't have all the capabilities of a PC unless you seriously hack it.

You can't get an XDK for xbox or xbox360 unless you are a registered developer and for now this means you are a big company with lots of $$$$ All the public information is here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/dev

OK. This is getting somewhere. The Xbox _is_ running an OS (as it was designed to do I would say), all be it a minimal one.

As for being a standalone one... well I'm sure it works for all those people who don't have subscriptions to XboxLive
