Hi there,
I've gone ahead and installed the XNA package, following the instructions in the download. The prerequisite's, Visual Studio Partner Edt, and the XNA installer.
I've however not downloaded the MechCommander2 package yet. I wanted to see if this was any bit usable without it.
I fire up Visual Studio and attempt to make one of it's "content build", and am greeted with a number of exciting errors. Of note, the content build project has a generic no image icon.
Two of these:
---
Package Load Failure
Package 'Microsoft.Xna.UI.XnaStudioPackage.XnaStudioPackage, Microsoft.Xna.UI.XnaStudioPackage, Version ... (a whole bunch of probably irrelivent numbers) ... has failed to load properly. (More numbers). Please contact packace vendor for assistance. Application restart is recommended, due to possible environment corruption. Would you like to to disable loading this package in the future ...
---
And one of these:
---
The application for project "H:\Program Files\XNA\\Templates\Projects\1033\Content Build.xnaproj' is not installed
Make sure the application for the project type (.xnaproj) is installed.
---
I've tried reinstalling XNA with no luck.

Just for the heck of it, ie went to the site to remove leftovers from the beta, and it didn't find anything, not that it should have, I just figured I would try.
Is there anything else I can try

I'm in the middle of downloading the MechCommander 2, so I havn't tried that yet. But still, like Ivan, I can't create a new XNA project (i.e. "Content Build" as listed in the projects dialog).

Yes, I running correctly the Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2. I download the MechCommander 2 sample, and I can open without problem. My problem is that i can't create a new XNA project.
Thanks!

Are you using Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP If you are using Windows Server 2003 please try a Windows XP machine. If you are using Windows XP please un-mark this as the answer and let me know.
Thanks!

Hi, I have the same problem. I use the S.O. Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition with SP2, and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2.
I have verified that the 'Content Build.xnaproj' template this correctly installed. Where I can modify the route of this template
Thank you very much by its answer.

Did you ever have any beta version of the framework or Visual Studio installed on that machine You might try some of the uninstall tools located here: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/10/27/485987.aspx then try installing the framework, partner edition, then XNA Build.
I would give this a try even if you never had a beta installed. It might just be that the .NET framework didn't install correctly.

I didn't try to remove everything, I was hoping to not have to do that, but will when I get home. I do have as an OS XP64, not sure of the version, as I am not at home. I will provide that once I get there, but thought I'd throw it out there in case that may be the problem.
Thanks for the quick response, and I'll try again later.

I know the beta note is for Ivan, but just to be clear, I don't have any other Visual Studos installed. Just the "Partner Edition" included with the XNA build archive.

The problem that the two of you are experiencing sounds familiar. Try this... From within Visual Studio 2005 click on Tools -> Import and Export Settings. Choose "Reset All Settings." You will be given a chance to save your existing settings before resetting them. Select either the General Development Settings or the Visual C# Development Settings. After you have done so, close Visual Studio 2005 and open it again to see if you have the appropriate project type listed.
This is a known bug in the CTP release.
By the way - I am unsure of whether this will fix everything on Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 because we haven't tested with that configuration and we strongly discourage people from using Beta 2 now that Visual Studio 2005 is officially released. If you wanted to fully uninstall Beta 2, the XNA Build installer will install the Visual Studio 2005 Premier Partner Edition which is the "shell" of Visual Studio 2005. This should give you a better configuration with which to try XNA Build.

Are both of you running the Visual Studio 2005 beta At this time we only support systems that have the release version of Visual Studio 2005 installed or no copy of Visual Studio installed (As we install the release version of the IDE)
PoVRAZOR, did you have visual studio installed at the time of installation Have you tried re-installing Also please make sure that you have all the prerequisites installed.
Let me know if you continue to have trouble, thanks for helping us to find a solution to this.
