VSS is not asking me for leaving check out file (Remain check out) while getting letest version

Hi,

I'm continously facing an issue, when ever i open a website from source control it always prompt me with the followoing msg:

---------------------------
Microsoft Visual Studio
---------------------------
The folder 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TradeShores' is not empty. Local files in this folder may be overwritten by the copies from source control.

Do you wish to continue
---------------------------
Yes No
---------------------------

on clicking No it does nothing, and on providing new locataion it copies whole project from VSS into that new location.

2nd ) if i click "yes" then it overwrites all my files regardless of either those files were checked out or not.

i lost my data twice because of it. Kindly help me out.

Thank you,

Regards

Generally you should not be opening project from SCC to the location that is already has project. Ideally you open project from SCC only once and after that you open project from disk.
