    Hello,

Have you tried adding a new report based on an existing report When you add a report to your project try choosing the From Existing Report option when the Crystal Reports Galery comes up.  Then browse to one of our sample reports (like World Sales).

What if you right click on the report and choose to insert a field (special or other) from the context menu

Does your Field Explorer show all of the database fields Which part is greyed out Can you add Special Fields from the field explorer Did you have previous versions of Visual Studio 2005 betas on this machine

    Hi

I know it has been a while since you posted your reply.
I managed to solve the issue when i recently had to format my computer and reinstall everything.

I have one very important questions for you though. I posted another bug/issue that i found with Crystal Reports in VS2005.
Here is the link to the issue.

    http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/productfeedback/viewfeedback.aspx feedbackid=6c39ebea-ab07-4b70-a719-fc2c0ab7f00d

Please have a look at it because this issue has been under review for a decade now. Running business critical reports with crystal becomes a pain when you have to keep updating the reports when there are new customers and detors and creditors. If this Crystal 11 Dynamic Parameters would just work in VS2005 it would be a life saver.

Please check it out. I am just taking a stab in the dark here because i would love to know if that issue will ever be resolved.

    Thanks
    Etienne

    Hi Keith

This is very disapointing news but thank you for coming back to me. I though i was being very smart writing my reports in to an appplication but this still means that those user that create new customers and suppliers will still have to have crystal install on there pc's so that they can add the default values for the promts in crystal reports.

Tell me is'nt there a away that you guys can release a viewer component for VS2005 that supports Dynamic and Cascading Prompts that user can download from you site.

I need to go read through your documents that you have on yor site and see if i have to pay extra for that Business Objects XI Release 2 because i just recently purchased Business Objects XI about 3 months ago.

Thank you so much for the reply.

    Hello Etienne,

Given the development cycle we were not able to get support for dynamic parameters into this product.  The reason for this is that we have to commit to a version very early in the integration effort with Microsoft and then stick with it for stability reasons.  Since the development cycle is longer for Visual Studio than Crystal Reports this will lead to a lag in versions.

The good news is that we did announce Business Objects XI Release 2:

With expected availability in Q4 of 2005.

In this post I explained the product versions a little more:
