Wrong Re-Install Procedure. Problems running VS2005.

Hello,

I have a serious problem in my system and I need Help or else I'll need to reinstall windows again. This is the situation:

I installed the VS2005 beta 5 and everything worked out ok. I have an ideia for a project and i needed to install a third-party component to test. to install the component i had to install the last built of the SDK Framework. Big Mistake. Manage to install the component, but i messed up VS2005 since it started to crash everything I create a new project. I then uninstalled the component...but the VS still crashed.

I then uninstalled the SDK...even worst mistake (didn't know that uninstall procedure had to be done in a particular way). Since it didn't worked i then tried to repair and unistall VS.

Every time I run setup, it says that SDK is already install. Setup goes all the way till the end, but when i start VS2005, it crashes and shows me the "send report window" with the re-start option. I tick the re-start checbox and the problems presists.

What can I do to put VS running correctly, because i'm thinking in buying VS2005, but only if I see it suites my project requests. And I'm not really in the mood to reinstall windows xp home again...Big Smile

Best Regards,

Adrian

    Hi Adrian,

Have you tried repairing your VS 2005 installation by going to Add/Remove Programs and Change/Remove. Then you select repair from the Setup window when asked. You may have to go through a sequence of reboots but hopefully that will get your VS installation back in shape.

Can you try using this tool to remove any beta 1 or beta 2 (or CTP) reminants on your machine and then try to reinstall the latest VS 2005
