Office Pro and Visual Studio Tools

Tongue Tied I have Office 2003 pro and I am trying to install Visual Studio Tools for Office 2003 pro.  Everytime I try to install VS tools I get an error message  my  computer needs Office 2003 Pro. I have it installed already and VS will not install. I have reinstalled Office and VS still will not load. How can I fix this problem.

    Hi,

Can you confirm which version of Visual Studio Tools for Office (2003 or 2005) are you running. Both work against Office 2003

    Thanks

    Hi,

Do you have a copy of Visual Studio as well, as you do not say in your post
Visual Studio Tools for Office extends the functionality of an existing Visual Studio installation, to my knowledge it is not a separate development environment.

I think I know what your problem is. There's an issue where certain flavors of Office Pro aren't recognized by the VSTO 2003 prerequisite checks.  You can workaround this problem by extracting the MSI out of the Setup.exe and running it directly - you can extract the MSI out by running "setup.exe /c".  This will bypass any prerequisite checks that are baked into the .exe.< xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Give it a try and let me know.  Thanks!

I have the same problem, but setup.exe /c didn't help. I just bought VSTO 2005. I thought I had Office 2003, but it was Office XP. So I bought Office 2007 Pro Upgrade. Now I have Office 2000, Office XP, and Office 2007 installed. But when I try to install VSTO 2005, it says I have to install the Office 2003 SP1. I can't afford to buy another version of Office! Please Help!!!

I also have the same problem.

    The setup.exe /c didn't work for me.

    Anyone else have any ideas

    Thanks!
