Trying tor install vs05b2 , the "setup is loading installation components" bar freezes at 100%. CPU usage is 0%.
I must reboot machine to stop setup. I had instated the Feb CTP but I think I uninstalled it. I hoped installing the b2 framework would solve the problem. It did not.
I had a successful install on another machine with the same media.
I get the same problem when I try to install Web Express 05b2 .
The log file ends with:

Hi, I have the same problem. After the installation of the .Net Framework Beta2 in the Installation Wizard the installation stops at 100%.
But I never have installed Yukon or SQL-Server on my machine so i suppose there also can be another cause of the problem.
I hope someone can help us.

1) Using a DVD I got in the mail instead of the one I burned
2) Uninstalling a bunch of programs, most especially a beta of Avalon that I thought I had already uninstalled, but had not. msiinv.exe was useful in giving me a list of programs to uninstall.

Did you have all previous version of components uninstalled in the required order with instructions at http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/uninstall/ (for uninstalling Express edition product) or http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/vs2005/uninstall/ (for uninstalling Professional or Standard edition product) Be sure to uninstall Framework last.
Could you try the clean up tool at Aaron's blog http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/04/21/410573.aspx to clean up previous version and try to repair Beta 2 product

I did run the tool you mentioned, and also have gone through the steps in your blog at:

which seem pretty thorough. My problem looks different than other reports because others get error messages. I get nothing.

What are your machine specs
Also, are you an admin on the machine and do you have access to the temp directory
It sounds like the system may be hanging when setup is copying a few files over.
Can you also share out a bit more from the log files

msiinv.exe is in the windows SDK.
After you run the list, if you see any SQL related products, try running:
msiexec /x {product guid}
that will remove the product off your machine.

I did have Yukon installed in the past, I think I uninstalled verything I could find. Where should I look for orphan bits, especially ones recognized by WMI
I can install and uninstall SQL05b2 express. Makes no difference.
