Does this occur after you install Visual Studio 2005

I've had this error for a year. Just so you know, reinstalling windows won't help it. New memory wont' help it. It isn't heat as it happens from a cold start. It isn't your mouse, i've tried various. it also isn't any particular install of software as I've done a reinstall from scratch and still had the problem.

It's a problem with windows XP and there are thousands of people out there who get this all day every day. There's no fix and MS haven't done a thing about it.

They say it's a problem with ie 6 - and it's fixed with SP2 - but I found it just happens more often after the SP 2 install.

So - I can't be certain what it is , but non MS Software and Hardware it isn't. You'll see this error all over the web and on a thousand different setups. The only thing they all have in common is IE of some variation. IE is the problem and although it happens on XP I understand it also happens on 98 and 2K.

My only hope is that next years new Windows release fixes this. I can't change to Linux or Mac as I use lots of PC software. I feel scr**ed as they seemingly aren't doing a thing to fix this.

Was there anything coming out of this Is there a hotfix I'm experiencing the same issue and nothing seems to help.

    Thanks.

I'm also having the same issue - XP, IE 6.0. It annoying, and it happens particularly for my CMS managed website that I have to visit many times a day.

We are also experiencing major mshtml.dll signature errors using IE 6 on the Windows 2000 O/S

I've applied all w2k and IE updates to no avail, looked at the possibility of IE 7 Beta but alas not for Windows 2k.

Any resolution would be great, the only way I've found is to use Mozilla Firefox instead.

Thank you for the detailed response.
I've forwarded this to the IE team to investigate.
