"An error has occured during setup. Installed files have been removed from your computer. For known issues and troubleshooting information, see the online Readme."
The online Readme is here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/windowsvista/default.aspx pull=/library/en-us/dnlong/html/WinFXSeptPDCReadme.asp
I have gone through it with a fine tooth comb and *NOTHING* fixes it. It sucks that the error is hidden and no clues are left anywhere as to why this is failing.
I have a clean install of:
- Win XP SP2
- .NET Framework v1.1.4322
- .NET Framework v2.0.50727
Are these the right versions Did I miss something somewhere

I cannot install WinFX runtime components 3.0

Hi Towfas,
I am french also and I'm meeting the exact same behavior. Seems like it takes the Japanese language by default when coming with a french WinXP.

Thank you for your answer.

Anyway, I'll try to install it.

I tried the step and didn't see the same issue. I think the confusing part is the following:
1. winfxsetup.exe is the Core English bits that required on all platform. So, when you changed the language, all it does is to display the localized download page. You will still need to download the winfxsetup.exe first and install it. NOTE the setup UI language will be shown in the language that matches your user language setting, i.e. if you have your machine user language set to Japanese as the default, then the setup UI will show up in Japanese.
2. After you install winfxsetup.exe, you will need to download either Japanese or German langpack based on your user language setting.
German langpack download location: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx familyid=0943F94A-D35D-426F-A2AB-778C4DF4EC83&displaylang=de
Japanese langpack download location:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx displaylang=ja&FamilyID=0943F94A-D35D-426F-A2AB-778C4DF4EC83
There is currently a bug that the langpack can only be installed on a system that has the user language sets to match the langpack language. This means the Japanese langpack can only be installed on JPN OS or an OS that has Japanese set as the default language. This issue will be fixed in Feb.
I hope this information helps.

Can you please send me the setup logs for debugging(anniew_community@hotmail.com) They are under %temp% with dd_ prefixes. There are multiple files and I'll need all of them for debugging. Thank you in advance.
The online Readme for Dec CTP is at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/windowsvista/support/relnotes/winfxdecctp/default.aspx
Can you also let me know did you try to install the Dec. CTP or the Sept CTP
Thank you.

Keith:
Based on the information you sent me, the version you tried to install is from September CTP and it will requires Beta2 version of .NET Framework. Thus you have so much trouble with the rest of the install because they all require the RTM version of the Framework. Can you please try clean up and install the Dec. CTP and see if the issue goes away
Thank you for your patience.

The setup application always gets hung up "Setup is loading installation components. This may take a minute or two."
Futhermore, there is no cancel button, and inevitably I have to shut down my computer, and the installer gets cancelled. I have tried installing again, and always the application gets hung.
I have the following frameworks installed:
.NET 1.1.4322 (I think)
.NET 2.0
Additionally, after I first cancelled the setup, by ending the process because it seemed to be interfearing with my debugging, I noticed that my computer is now greatly slowed, and something seems to be continuosly stealing cycles... This is MORE than annoying... I fear that my computer will remain in this horribly slowed state until I am done my current project and can afford the time required to reinstall.
Can someone PLEASE suggest a way to help
Thanks,
Jake
