Visual Studio 2005 Install Error - DepCheck indicates Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition - ENU is not installed

Hi!

I'm trying to install the VS 2005 Standard edition RTM, just fresh off msdn.

I used the cleanup tull to cleanse my machine of the Beta2, and I wanted to install the new VS.

*however* the install fails. The framework installs and is working correctly, just on installing VS I get an error "DepCheck indicates Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition - ENU is not installed" and the party is over.

I have included the copy of my install log (from where it begins to get fishy) below.

Any help would be much appreciated. I have a product I am actively working on and needs to be transferred onto the final 2.0 framework asap.

    I have done the same, but it didn't work at first. later i found out that copying disk 2 first and then disk 1 overwriting contents of disk 2 works.

    I tryed to install the visual studio 2005 (professional) also, i had the same problem "insert disk..."
    The machine was a fresh installed windows XP without any additions.
    The installation failed.
    After reading these comments i installed office (version 2003) and after that i installed the visual studio without any problems.

    i've found another method. I've installed all the stuff found in the wsu folder; then I ran the setup one more time and it worked.

    Another solution which worked for me is by copying the content of disk1 and disk2 into a single folder on your hard disk and run the set up again.

    Gotcha, part 2...

    it would seem the Visual Studio Tool for Office - extensions for Outlook were causing the problem.

    I removed them manually on several other boxes prior to installing VS 2005 and everything worked fine.

    It looks to me that the removal tool kills the "regular" vsto, but misses the extensions for Outlook.

    Some one suggested about using an ISO image for DVD but I didn't get it.

    I burned it using a backup on my hard drive.

    Do i need to do anything extra

    Do I need take ISO image from MSDN DVD and then burn it to saperate DVD

    I did install office 2003 no servicepack.
    about the windows xp i am not sure if it had only sp1 or also sp2.
    all i know for sure is that it worked with office 2003 installed.

    I'll check it out with an windows XP no SP's and no Office. (it should not work)
    i'll then install SP1 and try again without office. (it still should not work)
    then i will install SP2 and try again. (it maybe can work, but i suspect that it still will fail installation because of the office missing.)

    I also think that it doens't really matter if you use office xp or 2003 but i haven't tested it.

    Gotcha...

    I still had the "C:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8" folder on my machine from the beta installation.

    Seems the cleanup tool didn't clean it up and it was somehow readonly.

    Killed it manually and now it works like a charm :)

    I've had this error message in two scenarios:

    1) I used my own compilation dvd for installing. Doesn't want to work, so just burn the iso image for VS and use that. Should work.

    2) On one machine I used the burned VS image, but I had the dvd drive overheat. For a while it could read the dvd, then it couldn't any more. When everything cooled down (open box...) everything worked.

    I've the same pb. Is SP2 installed on your XP Did you check any options when installing Office 2003 (Did you install Office 2003 SP1)
    I tried to remove VS 2003 which was installed on my computer and still the same issue. I even tried to make an iso from the VS2005 DVD...

    The installation process stops and pops up "Insert Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition ENU Disk1".
