Uninstall VS 2005, SQL 2000 broken

Hi;

I thought I got the VS 2005 Beta 2 uninstall correct - maybe not.

After the VS 2005 uninstall - When I try and run SQL 2000 I get snap-in error (snap-in failed to initialize). I uninstall and when in the re-install of SQL 2000 the setup not really hangs but kind of ignores any input in the Authenication Mode dialog. To proceed through this I can only cancel this panel of the setup wizard. The setup appears delighted at this and goes on its merry way. (I would like to set the SQL Authenication password here - but I fear the previous SQL 2005 Express install may have something to do with this).

The VS 2005 Beta was a clean install there was no previous Beta components installed.

So here I sit no VS 2005 no SQL 2000 - what is a poor hack to do

    I am seeing people looking for a solution out.. me too in the same boat, mine is just quite different.

    I installed VS 2005 beta 2, no problems, i had SQL 2005 express on my machine, i wanted to add SQL 2005 beta 2 to the mix, now I install it, get error saying, incompatible versions from Visual studio or SQL Server. so->
    Uninstall VS 2005, uninstall all beta products, install sql 2005, now I have SQL 2005, but client tools will not install ( for some reason ).

    So Got a clean up utility from microsoft site, use the clean up utility to clean my sql installation

    did run it a couple of times.
    Reboot, installed sql 2005 again, now it installs sql 2005, no client tools yet, then installed VS 2005

    instead of running the whole set up of SQL 2005, i browsed through the folder, and ran the SQLRUN.MSI file, this helps a bit, but when i want to choose the client tools, i cannot, coz it reports, there is already client tools installed, now I uninstall the client tools that was installed vs 2005, after all this, I have no sql server, and have not tested VS 2005 working. it is 1:31 AM EST.. so going to sleep, if people have some clue on getting VS 2005, SQL 2005 (with the client and other servers up and running) i will really really appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.
    I did but I would be willing to bet I didn't do other component uninstalls in the exact order. I will reinstall VS 2005 and uninstall correctly will report back if problem continues.
