I have created a simple report with just a title and some lines in the header.
I set the page margins to .5 inch all around.
Centered the title and drew lines on either side all the way to the margins like:
------------------------------- Title -------------------------------
It looks great on the screen, but when it prints the left margin is quite noticeably wider than the right margin. Is this a known bug or am I missing something
I seem to remember having this problem with Crystal Reports at some point but don't remember how it was solved.

Page Margins are jacked up

A silly question:
Did you check the body size If it's more than 7.5in, that can happen.

I had a similar printing problem except it was cutting off the bottom of my page. When I'd go to the Margins tab of File - Page Setup and set my bottom margin, I would get the "Outside of printable area" error and then when I'd select the "Fix" button, it would reset my bottom margin to 2.3 inches. If I selected the "Ignor" button, it looked fine but would cut off anything below 2.3 inches.
I checked out the Knowledge Base and came across this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/189889/en-us
It didn't work for me, but I noticed that on the Margins tab of File - Page Setup that the gutter was set to 0 so I changed it to .01 and now it prints correctly - even after setting the gutter back to 0. Not sure if I accidentally changed the setting or what but I'm using the same printer at work that I've always been using.
If that doesn't work, here's another article with a whole list of printing issues that might help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304433/en-us#XSLTH4216121122120121120120
Hope this helps as I know how irritating it is!

That might be the problem, when you set the PageSize to 8.5in and the margins set to .5in all around, the Body Size will not automatically change to 7.5in, it's still 6.5in. You need to change it manually.
Good Luck.

I think you just changed the Report PageSize to 7.5in, right
There is a body Size, did you change it to 7.5 in
Good Luck,

Did you try to use a different font, sometimes the font makes the report very ugly.
Good Luck.

That's entirely possible, but I have seen it on two different machines with 2 different printers. They are both HP, but still seems odd to me.
So no one else has seen this problem

Its not the font. Lines in the header are not centered either.
I just tried changing the pagesize and/or interactive page size to 7.5 and it changed, but was actually worse. The difference is only about a cm, but its still not acceptable.

OK, automatic or not, the Width of the Body is set to 7.5in and I am still experiencing the problem.
On-screen everything looks centered. When printed, it looks close but instead of a .5 in. margin on left & right, I see about .8 in on the left and .3 in on the right. If I export to Excel or PDF before printing everything looks fine. Someone has had to see this problem. I have duplicated the problem on 3 different machines and 5 different printers (HP, Dell & Lexmark).

I've just experienced a similar issue when building a report to be run in Local Report mode. Page Size is 11in, 8.5in and Margins are set to 0.25in, using Arial Narrow font.
In the report viewer preview mode, the pages look fine and even when exported to PDF they are great. However, when I print to my HP LaserJet 4250tn printer, the report content spills over the bottom and right margins and gets truncated.
Also, I have some additional observations when using the report designer. First, if you multiple select fields and then try to change the Padding value, you get "Property value is not valid". The details for the error as follows:
'RptPaddingConverter' is unable to convert 'Microsoft.ReportDesigner.Drawing.ReportPadding' to 'System.ComponentModel.Design.Serialization.InstanceDescriptor'.
Secondly, there doesn't appear to be a way to zoom the designer layout. Crystal has this feature and it's very helpful for laying out reports that has a lot of content crammed onto a page.
Thirdly, the page count appears to be inaccurate when in Page Layout mode. If you click on the page navigator the count will then change. The page count appears to need a refresh when switching to Page Layout mode.
