Cheers,
I am posting to this group because I have not found any groupe dedicated to general WinFX issues.
I am having problem installing WinFX January CTP. When I launch the install, the window with progress bar saying "Setup is loading installation
components. This may take a minute or two." shows up, advances to 80 percent, and CPU usage jumps to 100%. It is impossible to kill the process. Task manager doesn't kill it, taskkill doesn't kill it, nor Process.Kill() from .NET framework. The only way to stop is to restart the machine. I've got the same problem with the Februrary CTP.
The machine is WinXP Professional, with only .NET framework, Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2000 installed. The same problem occurs on my laptop.

This is not complete answer to your question, since we moved to Feb ctp,it is better to install Feb ctp
How to install feb CTP:

If you still see the problem with Feb ctp,we can debug it(or we can find somebody from winfx to debug it)

I had a similar problem with the Jan CTP when I tried to install it at home. The solution for me was to disconnect from Internet before and during installation. I tried that after 5 reboots.
I hope this help you.

The undead process taking high CPU is setup.exe
I am downloading the windows debuggers and will follow up as soon as I'll manage to create the memory dump.
Thanks for assistance so far.

Hi Madhu,
thank you very much for your answer. As I mentioned, I already tried to install the February CTP (WinFX Runtime Components). The installer just locks up with 100 percent CPU usage, the same as with January CTP. Nothing is able to kill the process.

we worked with Mark on this problem
solution is:
you can download complete winfx package to local machine and install winfx
can download the entire package for x86 or for x64 which are both .EXE files
