.Net 2.0 SDK install problems?

I have tried several times to install this on different machines. I have installed the framework first, and when I try to run the install program, it interupts with the message "Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory(low disk space for swapping file) or corrupted Cabinet file." I have tried several solutions including deleting cache files, temp files, and other things. Has anyone encountered the same problems I am having Thanks for any help you may offer!

Have you tried redownloading the package

I know its 300 megs but it may be corrupt.

I’m sorry no, I’m now dry.

Try downloading it with Firefox. That helped for me.

How much free space do you have on your main Windows drive

  • MKSubb

I have experienced exactly the same symptoms. My third download of the 354MB file still gives me "Extracting file failed".

Did you manage to resolve your problem How

  • Torgg

I have over 70 gigs of space. I don't think that is the cause. But thanks for responding so quickly!

I figured that would happen... my next idea would be to make sure that your version of Windows Installer is up to date (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx familyid=889482fc-5f56-4a38-b838-de776fd4138c&displaylang=en).

If that doesn’t help... my last idea would be to DL the file again on the theory that the first one was somehow corrupted... as unlikely as that seems.

    Bear with me...

I was trying to install itunes and got the following:

Error 1335. The cabinte file 'Data1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

    <Abort> <Retry> <Ignore>

I then tried to install the iPod updater. Same message. After downloading each of these programs from Apple a few dozen times, I came to the conclusion that my .NET framework version 1.1 was hosed.

So...I downloaded the .NET framework 1.1 from MS, removed the one currently installed with Add/Remove programs, and ran the .NET framework 1.1 redistributable. Or at least tried to run it. Whenever I try to run the it, I get the error message described previously in this thread.

Now I cannot install anything. I get either the Error 1335 or the Extracting file failed error.

I guess my point is that the two problems seem related. Any ideas

Can you extract the archives contents with:

    setup.exe /c

and then run the setup on it’s own

Has anyone found a solution for this problem

I'm trying to install Visual Studio .net Professional version 2003 on a W2K SP4 system. I actually have two copies of the software and two W2K SP4 machines. One installation went fine, for the other, I am getting "Error: 1335: The cabinet file 'weccom_1033.msm' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used...".

I've tried many of the proposed solutions here, none have worked.

    Thanks...
