Installing Visual Basic 2005 Express

Hi,

I am tring to install Visual Basic 2005 Express. When it tries to install it, it says "Error 1402. Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_\MACHINE\Software\Classes\CAPICOM.Settings.1\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel." What is wrong with this Does anyone have an answer

Thanks

What do you mean by restarting your OS

I had the same problem. To fix it I had to go into the registry and change the permissions of every key associated with CAPICOM in Classes. I added Administrator, Administrators, Power Users, CREATOR OWNER, SYSTEM and Users all with full access and check the box under advanced to replace permissions on child objects. Tired to just do it to the ones that came up as errors but it was too slow so I just did all of them. Once all the permissions were changed installation completed normally. OS is XP Pro.

Worked for me, make registry changes at your own risk.
