  So you're saying the WinFX runtime installs fine, but after that the SDK install fails You might want to try to download the entire Windows SDK disk image and see if the install fails with that. Have you had any previous versions installed

  It depends what operating system you're running. On Windows Vista, you install WinFX using the Software Explorer. On down level operating systems, such as Windows XP, you need to download and install the WinFX runtime. The latest version is the Feb CTP which is available here:

  Additionally, if you've recently re-installed XP, make sure and go to Windows Update and completely update your system. One of the modules that the Windows SDK installs requires Microsoft Installer version 3.1. You won't have that version unless your system is completely up to date.

  Future versions of the SDK will detect this situation and alert you.

  no i dont have ne previous versions installed ... actually i formated my PC and then installed visual studio 2005 after that i installed winfx and then i start installing windows SDk and it doesnt get complete.... i didnt tried DVD image file .. i directly run the setup .....
