As a matter of fact, the April 2005 version of MSDN Library will not work with Visual Studio 2005. This is by design as the April 2005 MSDN Library does not have content that would be up to date for VS 2005.
As Paul Cornell mentions above, the MSDN Library for Visual Studio 2005 is the only content currently compatible with Visual Studio 2005. Future releases of MSDN Quarterly Libraries in 2006 will work with VS 2005, but no 2005 MSDN Quarterly Library releases.
If you installed VS 2005 from MSDN Subscriber's Download Center, then you can install MSDN Library for Visual Studio 2005 from there as well:
I'm not sure why you might want to use the MSDN April 2005 documentation with your installation of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. Visual Studio 2005 was released in November 2005. The MSDN Library for Visual Studio 2005 is more recent than April 2005.
You can use the Add or Remove Programs applet in Control Panel to install or remove various MSDN documentation sets. You can also use the Help options in the Tools Options dialog box in Visual Studio to control your offline and online Help access settings.
