VS.NET 2005 (June) fails to install SQL 2005 Express?

Hello,

Thanks for reviewing my question. I had VS.NET 2005 Beta 2 installed on my PC and decided to uninstall it (hopefully in order) in order to install the VS.NET 2005 (June CTP).

Everything seems to install expect for the SQL Express. I uninstalled everything and installed the SQL 2005 (June CTP) thinking I would use this instead of express but VS.NET 2005 didn't install. And, of course, I have read their not compatible.

So, I am back to square one. I have run the cleanup tool but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Any suggestions is appreciated.

The clean up tool only works for Beta 1 right now.

Can you try manually installing SQL Server Express from the \wcu\sse folder.

The UI that pops up may give you an indication as to why it failed.

Most likely it is a previous version of the .NET Fx 2.0 beta. I had the same problem on another machine of mine.

I had this exact same problem. However it was on a clean machine (I formatted the hard drive instead of uninstalling visual studio)

Is there a resolution for this

I have the same problem on two of my systems.

Uninstalled everything according to directions, then installed the JUNE CTP.
Everything installs, except it reports an error with SQL Express.

Manually trying to install SQL Express from the DVD tells me I have some incompatible components on my system, but I can't find anything.
