Error on Visual Studio Tools for Office "v3" install

Hi everyone!!!

I was really excited with the release of the "v3" June CTP, and i directly go to download it, follow the instructions and then an error raised saying this:

"Error 1937.An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Tools.Applications.Contract,Version="8.0.0.0",PublicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a",Culture="neutral",FileVersion="8.0.50727.146",ProcessorArchitecture="MSIL"'. The signature or catalog could not be verified or is not valid. HRESULT: 0x80131045. "

Well, I think: "Maybe the in the download something goes wrong, let's try again getting it one more time!!", it was not one more time, it was 3, 2 with and download manager and one without it, same error, next thing i was looking in the forums for the error but that was happeing with VS 2005 sometimes, digging a little more into I search into the .exe vsto3ctp.exe from the package, I get 3 files one of the vs_setup.msi, I run it and log the installation from the cmd with msiexec /i vs_setup.msi /lv error.txt and get a 1.44mb file, when the dialog appears I look the file and get this message:

Error on Visual Studio Tools for Office "v3" install

  • pylon

One more detail, I was thinking: "maybe is my workflow foundation install!!" well i remove all and try but no, same error, please anyone had sucecess in the installation

  • Anzer

I get exactly the same error and cannot complete the installation.

I tried it with WinFX_CTP_February and otherwise with the WinFX_Beta2. Same result. (I had to patch the msi anyway for this to run as the original version told me that "a complete installation of O2007" is a condition. But I had one...)

I would really like to know if anyone had success in installing the June VSTO "v3"

I have no idea what' going wrong.

Check to see if the Office 2007 B2 VSTA is installed.

It's under Infopath/.Net Programmibility Support/.Net Programmibility Support for .Net 2.0 / Visual Studio Tool for Applications. If not install, go ahead and install it, if it already is installed, try repairing and then give the CTP install another try. Let me know the results.

    Thank you Roger!

According your statement I looked if I had switched on all .NET support in the user defined installation of 2007 Beta 2. I had not! So I added that features. And: Success, success! The "v3" installed properly after that.

Nevertheless there where no new templates in the Office tree of VS2005. In the corresponding directories I noticed, that only the 1033 subtrees where filled with these templates. The 1031 subtrees where in old state. (I have an german version of team suite installed!) I then installed the english version additionally and after that switched the IDE from german to english. That was the solution. The new templates are now available and the item for the ribbon support also exists.

Maybe it would be a good idea to state clearly in the download section of the june "v3", that only the english version of VS is supported

I wish Francisco the best to also solve his install problems.

If you have the CTP addins (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc) but not the Office 12 document templates then it sounds like there is some interference there from the SDK . I haven't had time to confirm it and don't know that I know of a workaround.

    Hi Everyone!!

Thanks but I have bad news...

Still the same error with the install, as i previousluy said I go back yo office 2k3, develop the smartdocs that I need (with the problems that I mentioned) and try again with the office 2k7, I review that the .net support and vsta where checked, and it were (but if this where not the install cannot start and my install fails at the commit) I try with the repair option, after that I retried but no, same error... well what more can we try How can I now that i have the last Office 2k7 beta can you give me the build number to check

Thanks for the support to all!!

I am running WinXP SP2. Everything's up to date.

VS is VS2005 Team Suite German from MSDN Subscription April. (Includes VSTO; additional: VSTO Language Pack)

    I installed WINFX_Feb_CTP

When trying to setup "VSTO "v3" June I  get the message:
"You must have a complete installation of Microsoft Office 2007 before... "

This message lauches for this condition in the msi:
    (NOT VSTARUNTIME_FOUND)
VSTARUNTIME_FOUND is a condition variable that looks for the CLSID key  {6A09F80A-CE53-4AB5-A538-2BDD3E3263A5} in registry. Indeed this key does not exist on my system.

So I patched the msi to ignore this condition. Setup of VSTO June worked then but lead finally to exactly the error 1937 that Francisco described and the setup rolled back.

I deinstalled WINFX_Feb_CTP and replaced it by WINFX_Beta2.
Setup of VSTO3 then told: "You must first install Microsoft WinFX Runtime Components February CTP before..."
So I patched the msi once more to ignore the condition (NOT WINFX_FOUND). (This condition looks for InstallSuccess on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WinFX RunTime\3.0\Setup\Indigo )

The error was the same (1937).

In Windows/Software there is also an entry for MS VSTO Runtime. I am not sure if I ever installed the vstor.exe separately, but it's possible.

I think there is something wrong with the right version of the VSTO runtime on my system. But what

    Thanx, Sascha

BTW: I "pulled" the VSTOPackage from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx FamilyID=68978824-CA55-4208-A55E-5C4858183B31&displaylang=en
    Is there another place

  • USNgineer

Win XP SP2, all up to date

    Office 2007 Beta 2

    OneNote 2003

    Visio 2005 for Enterprise Architects

    Visual Stuido .NET 2003 Enterprise

    Visual Studio Team Suite

    WinFx Runtime February CTP

Windows SDK (Last From MSDN subscriptions)

Well, if something could be missing the installation maybe can't start, as you can see in the log is finishing , well if you need more info please tell me!!

  • happyc

Thanks, I'll take a look at this and see if I can repro it.

  • Nagu

Francisco, where did you get the "Orcas" last CTP

    Thanks

    Roger

  • namo21

Some additonal data that I forget to tell you:

This time some addins where added to the Visual Studio templates, Outlook Add-in, Word Add-in, etc... but I also installed Visual Studio 2005 SDK (I need a VSIP licence) is maybe that

  • TheBeard

May I get more information about what you have on the machine and where you pulled the June VSTO CTP So I can try and repro and see about a fix.

    Thanks

  • Romantic_touch

From MS Downloads, I can’t remeber where exactly, and when but isn't too much time ago, i was reading that the next "orcas" cto will include vsto, then 2 more questions:

    1. Must I wait for the next "Orcas" CTP

    2. I unistall all and go back to office 2k3 and vsto for visual studio 2005 (too much problems, the rollback was not good and some aseembly mapping was not restored, when i try to compile the smartdocs it look for an assembly version Microsoft.VisualStudio.Tools.Applications.Runtime 8.1.0.0 but only the version 8.0.0.0 was there in the GAC, i must reinstall ALL Visual Studio some times and then it compiles but the Excel designer die.... this is only information), I'll try one more time this weekend, maybe i must redownload some of the components that i previously used (I uninstall all except WinFx runtime..)

    Thanks for all!!!
