How do I customize the start page in VS2005 Is it possible
In VS2003 you just added a file in
%Program Files%\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\Common7\IDE\HTML\1033\Custom.
I tried that in VS2005 but it didn't work, I was not supprised since the layout of the start page has been redesigned.

Customizing startpage in VS2005?

Hi Tommie,
My name is Octavia and I am the dev working on the Start Page feature in Whidbey. The feature has been completely redesign and rewritten from the ground up, so none of the customizations from 2003 apply anymore. It is still possible to cutomize it to a certain degree through the profiles file, and through the registry.
What kind of customizations are you interested in doing

Basically provide a link to our Corporate Dev page, where we have all our guidelines and common components. And maybee some internal news.
I would like to configure my own "frame" on the startpage. For example, maybee the frame "MSDN:Visual Basic" could be a bit smaller and there would be an aditional frame below or above with my own information .

Octavia has moved on, this thread is almost a year old.
All customizations that are available are discussed in the VS doc set.

Hi Octavia,
Could you please provide more details on the profiles file/registry We would like to have a tab/page in the IDE with some text/links to our intranet page.
Thanks,

The startpage feature in VS 2003 wasn't very secure, and was subsquently redesigned for VS 2005. It's my understanding that from an extensibility viewpoint there isn't much you can customize in it.
