Hi all
I've had Visual Studio 2005 Team System 180-day trial installed for a while. After some trouble I had to uninstall everything VS2005-related.
Now, when I try to install the trial again, it refuses to install with the message "A trial edition is already installed on this computer. You must uninstall the previous trial before installing another trial edition.".
It's not "another trial edition" of course, it's the same one! I'm not trying to circumvent the 180 day limit or anything, I'd just like to go on like before.
I have no applicable uninstall entries. msiinv.exe confirms this. There is no way I can uninstall anything, as everything is already cleaned up (using, among other things, vs_uninst.exe). I really don't have the time to reinstall the OS just to please a fuzzy installer.
I can find noe info on this issue anywhere. I really need this package until I get my licenced copy through the red tape. Can anyone help

Re-installing VSTS 180-day trial

First things first:
I've never installed a trial edition of VS. I reformatted just week ago, re-installing Windows 2003 x64. I go to install VS2005, and boom: "A trial edition is already installed....". What !
So then I start looking online. Well theres pretty much only two results that pop up from google; both leading to these forums ... and both with limited detail to fix this problem.
As it turns out, I had recently installed Adobe CS3 Suite. Unfortunately, the CS3 installer (specifically for Photoshop) does not like Win2k3 let alone x64. Well as in past experiences, I've really had no problem using this OS with Adobe's apps .. so I fired up Microsoft's Application Verifier to fake the Adobe Installer into thinking the pc is running WinXP. ... Thus everything installed fine, and works great.
Now what I don't understand .. is how Application Verifier in any way, shape, form, was confusing Visual Studio's Installer into thinking there's a trial version present. Once I un-installed the AppVer, VS no longer displayed that error, and installed perfectly.
All in all ... remove any MS Debugging Tools or SDK stuff before attempting install I guess.
Hope this helps!

None that I'm aware of.
You can also try installing the VS Express products. Those are free for downloading on msdn.microsoft.com.

I got to this point because when uninstalling visual studio my computer crashed and had to be reset. Obviously the uninstaller didnt like this. I then went to reinstall it a while later and alas!
Help PLEASE!

Does this mean that the only way to install the trial once again on the same Windows, is to reinstall Windows Harddisk crashes do happen and this is a trial. Isn't there any other smoother alternative
