Please follow this procedure described the readme: "2.7 WinFX Beta 2 installation fails on a system with WinFX Jan CTP or earlier previously installed"

    The readme is here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/windowsvista/support/relnotes/winfxbeta2/default.aspx

Which version of WCF are you trying to uninstall

    Hello Napilut.

I'm from The Netherlands, living in Chile  I understand some Spanish... (Not too much though... I'm just starting to learn...)

To answer your question: If it doesn't work without uninstalling SQL Express, then yes. I should say, give it a try. I didn't succeed without uninstalling SQL Express first. There's a KB article about manually uninstalling SQL Express, when the uninstall procedure fails for that part. If you allready have tried the WinFx uninstall tool, you've got a big chance that it removed the Sql Express setup support files. These you'll need to install again, before you can remove Sql Express. Important: If you have applied SQL Express Service Pack 1, use the setup support tools from that service pack, or de-installation of SQL Express will fail. For more info, see KB article 909967

The WinFx uninstall tool provided by Microsoft, does the same thing, as do other posts that I found suggest this same (awful) step. It's a lot of work, but I don't see any other solution.

Don't forget to backup your databases before uninstalling SQL Express. This can be done by using the SQL Management Studio Express, or simply by using SQL commands.

Update: Added a link to the WinFx uninstall tool

I have also a problem with the WCF installer

when u run the uninstall i get the error

    EventType : wap10setup P1 : 13165 P2 : 3.0.03906.22_waprc0_x86_sfx
    P3 : mc P4 : inst P5 : f
    P6 : dd_ca_uninstallxwsregexe_x86.3643236f_fc70_11 P7 : 0 P8 : 1603
    P9 : - P10 : windows communic

I used the repair funtion and the the uninstall but the problem stil exist

When in look deeper in to the uninstall process i figured out that it is a problem in the Windows Communication Foundation Uninstaller.

When in run "servicemodelreg /u" from the command prompt i get a message

    Are you sure (Y/N) y

Uninstalling: Machine.config Section Groups and Handlers

    Uninstalling: Xws System.Web Build Provider

    Uninstalling: Xws System.Web Compilation Assemblies

    Uninstalling: Xws Http Handlers

    Uninstalling: Xws Http Modules

Uninstalling: Xws Web Host Script Mappings

Error: Input string was not in a correct format.

I think it has something to do with the error message "Error: Input string was not in a correct format."

is there an other way to uninstall WCF.

    Kind Regards
    Dieter

    Hi Dieter

I had exactly the same problem, here's how I managed to solve it:

    1. Uninstall all instances of SQL Express 2005, including tools, etc.
    2. Go to the Window\WinFX\WCF folder, right click the MSI and click "Repair"
    3. Servicemodelreg /u
    4. Right click the same MSI and click "Uninstall"
    5. After this, I could uninstall the rest of WinFX beta 2

    Hope this helps.

Sorry for my english, I'm from spain I have to improve my english:

I have the same problem and all I can find on the web is that response to do the "sc delete "InfoCard Service"

Well, that does not work for me and tried it twice and I get "service not found" and double checked that I typed it right.

Is there anything else to try to get WinFX Beta 2 to install.

This is the part of the error log I get:

[06/09/06,09:34:46] Windows Communication Foundation Beta 2: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Windows Communication Foundation Beta 2. MSI returned error code 1603
[06/09/06,09:35:33] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates WinFX Runtime Components 3.0 - Beta 2 was not attempted to be installed.
