Visual Studio 2003 uninstall

Hi,

I've had Visual Studio 2003 for a while, but have now got Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2. I don't have enough space on my system drive, so I need to uninstall Visual Studio 2003. When I try, it says "Setup is unable to determine a valid ordering for the installation. See the error log for further details". I don't know where this error log is. I have tried repairing prior to uninstalling, or uninstalling the components, but I still get the same message. Does anyone have any ideas Is there a way to tell the installer what to uninstall - I did a full install originally as far as I remember.

    You can find the error logs in your user temp folder (%temp%). Take a look there and you may find something helpfull. Also make sure the you have not uninstalled the the .NET Framework 1.1.

    Thanks for this information. I've now managed to uninstall most of VS2003 - individual components. Now, I've got VS2005beta2 installed which also does not want to be uninstalled. This is the relevant part of the Install Log I think (dd_vsinstall80.txt):

    I will be getting the discs for VS2005 (non-beta) today, will that allow me to uninstall it properly I'd installed various SDKs for smartphone development, all of which I've removed in the reverse order to which I put them on. Is repairing the installation likely to help

    Please execute msiinv.exe and direct the output to a text file as per direction.  Then please attached this outoup to a mail and send it to

    ddsetlog@microsoft.com

    This output will contain all the products installed through Windows Installer.  I will take a look and provide a manual uninstall step for VS 2003.

    Please first try the uninstall tool for VS 2005 to uninstall the VS 2005 beta.
