VS 2005/VSS 2005 - Error while checking (HTTP)

I read thru this forum and finally had the Internet access setup. The server is not in the same LAN as the client computer.

I created a new project and VS 2005 beta 2 and tried to add the solution to my test VSS database. However, I always get the following error no matter how I tried:

---------------------------
Visual SourceSafe Internet
---------------------------
There was a failure uploading the URL http://www.abc.com/SourceSafe/VssUpload_db1/680bb406-5457-4430-974f-e35885d19821/{2E2C9C61-D8DA-41E3-B440-00FA1DF0081D}. Do you want to retry the operation
---------------------------
Yes   No

Any solutions

I got similar error while *DOWNLOADING* too.

I thought VSS 2005 might have problems doing the first checkin, so I I zipped my project and FTP'ed onto the server and manually added my project to VSS.

In VSS 2005, I tried to open the project from the server via HTTP access, but still got a similar error. :-(

Yes, because I can see the newly created GUID string directory in C:\testvss2005\VssWebUpload.

I check physical folder and vdirs and found no problem - I have Everyone have FULL access to the Upload/Download folders and READ/DIR BROWSING access for vdir Upload and READ/WRITE access for the vdir Download.

Thanks for your help. I think we can wait til the final release is out, so won't bother any more.

What OS is the Web Service installed

If it is Windows XP Pro, that may be the cause of the issue. Due to the remote connection limit of Windows XP, sometimes operations can fail this way.

    Hello,
I have run out of ideas on what could be wrong with your configuration. At this point the only option I can think of is having a remote assistance session through MSN Messenger. If that is feasible to you, please send me email: mderfla (reversed) at microsoft.com to coordinate.
