Hi,
Can anyone else confirm this issue (and the possible fix)
I fixed it for myself but only have one computer to test on.
Issue:
The Class Details Window flickers or disappears when clicked on with the mouse making the window unusable.
btw: This is an update to the following thread about the Class Details window:
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=67472&SiteID=1
Fix:
Uninstall the DirectX Extensions for Visual Studio componet of the DirectX SDK.
I was suffering from this issue so I reinstalled everything fresh, starting with Windows XP + all updates. I then installed Visual Studio 2005, and would verify that the Class Details window was functional after each new piece of software I installed. Only after installing the DirectX SDK (December 2005) did the Class Details window stop functioning correctly. I realized that the only piece of the SDK that is somewhat tightly coupled with the Visual Studio 2005 IDE is the DirectX Extensions for Visual Studio component.
So I modified the DirectX SDK installation by removing the DirectX Extensions for Visual Studio component from DirectX SDK in the Add or Remove Dialog in Windows XP. After removing the component, the Class Details window functions properly again.
Note: I didn't have to remove the whole SDK, just the component in question.

P.S. I am using Visual Studio Team Edition for Developers and DirectX SDK (december 2005)

Fix: for Class Details Window Disappearing Issue

Hi Jason,
Thanks for this information. This seems quite odd but you never know. We will follow up on this and let you know if that is the case.
Thanks,

Thanks Jason. We have identified the root cause of the issue - there are actually two bugs. :) One in DirectX SDK and the other in VS Shell. We have also contacted DirectX SDK folks to make the fix on their side. In the meanwhile, we have a fix for VS Shell where it handles the situation where one of the VS extensions is malformed as was the case here.

Ramesh Rajagopal.

I've also submitted a detailed bug report to the DirectX SDK beta site. So they also know about it.
Thank you,

We were able to reproduce this problem after installing DirectX SDK. We are investigating this issue along with the VS Core IDE Extensions team to find the root cause and a fix.
Thank you very much for being persistent and your help in getting us to reproduce this problem. We'll let you know once we have a fix.
Regards,
Ramesh Rajagopal.

The current MDX 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005 stuff is still marked as beta, so they have an "excuse." In fact, the readme file in the SDK says that the shader debugger is not supported in Visual Studio 2005 -- yet.
That said, the issue should be resolved in the April SDK update. I only say that, because the MDX 2.0 RTM is set for the April SDK and they've known about the issue.
Hope that helps

Many thanks jpursell, this problem was driving me insane. I would have reinstalled Visual Studio if not for your post.
When will the official fix for this be released And why wasn't it in the February 2006 SDK
