For internet access, it seems SourceAnyWhere works much faster and more stable than VSS 2005. However, SourceAnyWhere as an add-on product for VSS costs nearly $300. I'm wondering if VSS 2005 production release version is going to be much faster than the current beta version. This is what I'm concerning.

We also experience a fast/stable remote access using SourceAnyWhere. Just like you, we wish we could save $299 purchasing the add-on product. VSS 2005 beta looks much cooler than previous versions. I appreciate its internet access functionlity. However, its slow and buggy internet access performance depressed us a lot. As for remote source control, it is like butter and bread for us. What you are concerning is just what we are concerning.

For our large team of over 100 offsite users across the globe, high performance of internet access is very significant. This is why we switch to the excellent add-on product SourceAnyWhere.

Several of the SourceSafe add-on products available in the market provide additional value in different ways, and that is part of what makes SourceSafe a great product: the variety and choice to best suit your needs
The remote access feature in SourceSafe 2005 is aimed to cover basic scenarios for internet access from Visual Studio. On our internal benchmarking, the Internet plug-in is anywhere from 30% to 50% faster than the standard plug-in when going over high latency networks. If your network configuration requires higher performance improvement than that, then evaluating the alternatives available in the market for add-on products certainly makes sense
