I just registered my copy of VS2005 Standard Edition that I received at the VS2005 Launch. One of the benefits of registering is free icons, components, etc. When I try to go to the Registration Benefit Portal to download them I get a page stating that the page is missing or I lack authorization.
Is there a trick to this

The Connect portal had a fairly large upgrade applied early this week which may have been the reason for some of the denied access.
Anyone who is having problems accessing benefits can contact vsrghlp@microsoft.com for support. Please note the product you are trying to register and the email address that you used to register (i.e. where did your registration confirmation email go )

I encountered this same problem yesterday when I registered my copy of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite. However, when I returned today to the Visual Studio 2005 Registration Benefits Portal (accessed by clicking the "Registration Benefit Portal" link in my "Thank you for registering Visual Studio" confirmation e-mail), I was able to access the Portal without any problems. Sorry for any inconvenience here, but the problem appears to be fixed now.

I concur. Just installed the VB2005 Express and followed the registration benefits link from my confirmation/thank you email.

Similar difficulty accessing the registration benefit portal here.
IE7 beta makes quite a bit of a racket - rapid clicking noises, flickers in time with the clicking noises and CPU Usage goes to 100% as displayed in Windows Task Manager
