As usual, it was the latter. I don't know what I thought was missing, but the recent MSDN libraries had everything I thought was missing, and it was already installed on my machine and already integrated with VS. I think I accidently had a filter selected that got in the way.
Sometimes being dense gives one an awful sinking feeling... ;->
