  Simple program, expandable!
  I think we need a simple program to start expanding.  There are still lots of people don't know how to start and perhaps like me not even know how forms are handled.
  We can start from a simple Core base and expand as each of you has your own expertise.  We contribute our expertise to exchange and enhance ourself.  Keeping a piece of meat will get yourself narrowed isn't it   Share it!  That's why we got forum here... :)
  
  Imagine that I start ASP.NET like less 3 months ago and I am be able to create my own application and sell to my clients.  It's fast and RAD.  Folks, if you have some apps that are not using and would like someone to solve for you or discuss.  share it out.  Hope someone can hear me.  Thanks!

  All of these ideas are similar "enough" that they could be combined into one project.  It would be quite the undertaking, but eventually it could be your one stop shop for emails, community involvement, and source code.  I wouldn't mind helping heading this thing, but not alone, so I'll need some (err, I mean LOTS OF) help!  For those that may be interested either respond here, or if you want to speak with me directly my MSN IM is josh@chegg.com.  Once I get a few people together, we'll have a brainstorm chat session and discuss ideas, names, leadership, source revision methods, milestones, the weather, etc.
  
  I think a project of this magnitude will need <B>at least</B> 3 or 4 good developers on the core team.

  another one (just to get a bunch going) i've been playing with is a "Community Reader".  Basically, you would have a WebService that would shoot out "standard-like" data (all use the same WSDL file) that you could plop onto any webserver and it would act as a translater for forums and newsgroups (so they all come out the same), then create the "Community Reader" app, to have one central place for all your community type stuff.  Sort of what RSS did for news, blogs, etc.  You could just use RSS, but I'm thinking of sending data back to the WebService Adapter also.

  Have you looked at the <a href="http://www.gotdotnet.com/Community/Workspaces/Directory.aspx">GotDotNet Workspaces</a>   There's probably some WindowsForms projects there if you'd like to join in.

  We can bring Microsoft's open source small project and start.  I was from ASP.NET but I am lacking of class skills and structuring skills.  I wish I can learn more and also help more people who are newbies like me.  I am still looking for some half-way-done open source code to share, but if anyone has something, don't be afraid to show it out.  cuz imagine like asp.net DotNetNuke has over 10,000 developers brainstorming ideas and provide a good framework and also it has supports...
  
  look at Linux.. they are doing same thing.  We should team up and earn more $$$ from our clients, but not developers... what you think

  personally, i think a "GUID for life" approach will prevail in the end, but isn't feasible until someone makes identification seemless, as in, you identify people however you want and the real ID for the person is never even visible to the user  ;)

  If anyone will be developing a mail client, way not a new email transfer protocol, a small email server and a small a mail client that will use this protocol, a protocol that will keep us spam free, that can make sure that when an email is sent by someone is really sent by that person, a protocol that can reduce spam significantly.
  
  A new generation of email addresses, something like:  user|domain.com  , and a protocol that will give me a power to block users by areas, by domains, by trust level (for example I would like to receive emails only from real people not spammers, people that are trusted by a third party server using the new protocol, their ISP's for example), etc, etc, etc (I can talk about that for two hours)
  
  
  Ok, I'm just dreaming :) , but it will be nice to have it one day.

  How about a mail client :-D.  I currently use OE, but there have been many times that I thought "Hey, I wish it would do _____ when I do _____!", or similar thoughts.  A mail client could include a lot of the .NET sections, so it would be a good open source solution for others to learn from:
  
  Networking (Sockets)
  Database (Local mail store)
  Windows Forms/GDI+ (well, duh)
  Security/Cryptography
  Directory Services (LDAP, etc.)
  Remoting (to talk with the mail server that we'll write as well ;) )
  etc.
  
  I dunno, just an idea, it could work.

  I have heard my friend's idea of making a simple Peer 2 Peer program for sharing open source files and project in there.  We can make this program open source and add many features into it, and after all, it will still function as P2P program for programmers to share open source they dumped in the folder.
  
  I also like the idea of mail client program.
  
  I am new to windows forms developing, I was from ASP.NET.  I felt windows forms lacks open source and wish to learn something from here.  I would be happy to see anyone can start one.  Thanks!
